Dammit Mom, why didn't you pick up the phone?
It's a little weird having to tell Dad "Happy Mother's Day," ya know.

Mom at one year of age (ish)

Mom last year (the one without the fur)

*sigh* Sometimes I think I don't appreciate you enough, but I do know that I've now realized that my parents are the people I can count on to be there for me through it all. We sometimes argue (and by "sometimes" I mean "often" like that time I forgot to get the paperwork for my senior projects signed until the evening before it was due , and that time I got a speeding ticket the day before I was supposed to apply for my full license :hide:)

The moment I turned 18, I realized that my mom would have gotten me anything I would have wanted. I just had to ask. (I never asked.) Now, she keeps sending me checks even though I never say I need money. Thanks, Mom. (Keep 'em coming.)

Another thing I ought to thank you for is that fact that at age almost-50, you're probably about as physically fit as a thirty-year-old. This means I won't have to pay for a nursing home later on (:hide:).

So, yeah...random thoughts about my mother. I'll never forget all you've given me. I love you, Mom. :loveya:

And...as a shameless whoring...you should go here and buy some of her books and help put me through college. :D They're good, though. Really, they are. :D

3. Well, according to my dad she was at a tai chi workshop.
Besides, my phone's registered under her name.

4. hey ZombieNixon...
It sounds like you and your mom have a wonderful relationship. I just looked at her web blog and she is beautiful! You're very lucky to have such a talented woman in your life. You've probably learned so much from her.

5. My mother was away at a conference one year when I called
We weren't really talking much at the time so I had even been nervous about calling her on Mother's Day.
My step father said that he'd tell her that I'd call and he later called back saying that she was glad that I called, which I thought was strange. Why didn't she call back from wherever she was?

6. I usually call in the evenings.
I'm just not sure where I'll be tonight, so I figured I'd call earlier. My mom's usually out of the house during the day, so it's not really a big deal. My dad'll pass on the message and she might call back later today. Hopefully I'll be here.

7. in the thirty years since I left home
I can count on the fingers on one hand how many times my mother has called me, and recite the names of those who died which was why she called. You're a lucky guy Zombie

11. You try to hide it beneath your Zombie exterior
but we always knew you were like this under.

It's very charming - thankfully you don't get to see my "being nice about my mother side" as our mothers' day has been and gone this year.

:hi:
