My pancakes are not satisfying.
So I just moved into a new apartment, and I finally attempted to use the ca. 1960 stove. I realized it wasn't plugged in, had to move it out, blah blah. Then I mixed up some pancake batter (all organic!), made my pancakes without a hitch... but they're kinda... bland. Maybe they needed some salt or sugar or something...?

I think I am going to eat a banana.

1. you didn't put any salt in?
Or did you use a mix? From scratch, a pancake should have flour, milk, sugar, eggs, salt. Did yours?

2. Yeah, I used a mix.
So it should've been appropriately salty... you'd think...

Meh. They were also kinda... too thick. I should've made three instead of just two.

3. Go to the food network website, and find Alton Brown's pancake recipe.
It's a mix you make yourself. His show is Good Eats, in case you're not a fan.

Oh, and I recommend an electric griddle. Makes pancake making easier.

6. I always add more water than called for (from a mix) and let
the batter "rest" before I cook them.. Use a very hot skillet.. (water bead should skitter around)..do not turn too fast ..and turn only once..

We actually like the "mix" pancakes better than scratch..

We also like waffles better, but they have to be my very own homemade recipe..and made on my wedding present waffle iron (1970 manning-bowman)...

damn... now I want waffles, and am too lazy to go buy buttermilk :)

9. My social life is not satisfying.
What can ya do?

Discard your failures and start again. Eventually your pancakes will turn out right.
