6. Yeah, but it's funnier if you remember her silly Southern accent...
she saw it in the "winda."

That skit can still reduce me to laughter and tears in a matter of seconds, no matter how many times it's seen or discussed!

11. I absolutely remember how she sounded
In fact, a couple of months ago, there was a Carol Burnett special, and they showed that skit. I too, laugh 'till I cry!

19. Isn't That A Bob Mackie Costume?
Or was it something that the set-designer/costumer just threw together?

Thanks for the photo and the laugh, Oeditpus Rex!! That's one of my favorite Carol Burnett skits!!

17. In 8th grade my teacher snatched that book from my hands
and told me it was not a book to read as we hear enough about sex as it is. What! I was going to a very fundie (what fun?!) boarding school. I was shocked to say the least. Later on in high school I was reading it and the director of the school told me I shouldn't read it because Scarlett was a bad person that no woman should look up too. Lord save us from dirty books about uppity women.

16. Absolutely spot-on.
Not just because the great southern belle was played by an English actress either ;)

13. I could always identify with Scarlett
She was strong, but weak at the same time. I know, her character was a spoiled brat. But, there was something about her I couldn't help but be drawn to.

15. She was a survivor
Scarlett was tough and she would do whatever it took to survive including working with Yankees, etc.

Did anyone else read the "sequel" that came out in the 1990's called "Scarlett"? I hated it because they turned Rhett Butler into this awful wimp.

The fact that she was smiling with afterglow the next morning does not change that.

22. Mammy
She was great-she was the only person who really loved Scarlett for who she was, that was why it was so easy in the end for Scarlett to break her heart.

She was Scarlett's mother, for all intents and purposes. The book makes that far clearer than the movie does.

25. Um...I kinda wish they all woulda burned with Atlanta....
All of them were spoiled rich gentry, not too different than the Paris Hiltons of today, that did no real work but instead lived off the sweat of the slaves.

And the slaves in the book were content with this - who do you know who would be content with 12 hour days, abuse and no pay????

That's what Sherman's friends called him. Short for Tecumseh, his middle name.

26. Scarlett is the most selfish, ignorant, self-involved lead role ever
GWTW is terrible because of the useless woman at it's center.

Her mere presence makes the movie the most tedious film imaginable.

In short, GWTW sucks.
