:hi: I have finals next week. And as many have said, DU is addictive. (So is AIM.) In order to study I am cutting myself off cold turkey, but only until Dec. 20th, after finals are over and I am finally home. I'll be on till about 10 eastern tonight and thats it. No more. I HAVE to study. I have three finals, two papers, one test and a quiz between now and then.
Who else has finals?
Lets hear it for studying till your eyes hurt!
Can I get a big hurray for caffeine?

may be you would have better luck in getting them to understand that gratification sometimes needs to be deferred (at least until after finals). Good luck on your exams!:hi:

I will party so much when I get home! I haven't seen any of my friends from home since August, same with my family. I will sleep too. Sleep is glorious.

I completely admire your strength and self-motivation! Good luck with your studying/papers/exams and quiz!! You've motivated me to leave DU for a couple of days in order to get my last paper out of the way (due Thursday!)! DU is so addictive ... I just lost an hour reading through it! Guess it's time to get to work!

To think I've been here for years and just got to 500. I've just come out of my shell more lately that and a laptop with a LAN network connection, and all those hours I should have spent studying, which gets me back to my original post!

I am happy to say I have not had finals in 20 years..but YEAH caffeine!

I have to make a buffet along with cocktails and I have to start making it at 5:00 am next Wednesday. I have a baking final next Monday where I have to create my own Signature Bread, make perfect Challah Bread and and and GD'it I forgot to make my sour dough starter so I will do that tonight and I have to make two good loafs of Sour Dough Bread.
I also have a College Algebra final, Grand Mange Final, Meats Final, Breads Final oh and I forgot a Menu Planning final.
I also have to create Menu for my fake restaurant "Wench". I have to prepare several dishes from my Menu and they have to taste good.

GD'it I screwed!

I will get it done and I want my Damn A.

Calculus, Principles of Biology (intro bio for bio majors), General Chemistry and American Government.

If we don't put our food on a clean hot plate we have a grade point shaved off.
They taste your food and if the salt is off you are screwed.
My Chef will let me start early because he knows that I have physical problems but everything has to taste perfect and he is hard on me.
We also have to make sushi, maki, spring rolls and the wrappers have to be perfect.
The bread had to be hot, the crust has to be a golden brown and the seams on the bottom can't show at all. It has to look like you bought it at a bakery.

Our menu planning class we have to "Make" a menu which means a trip to the crafts store.

I still wouldn't trade places with you because your classes are harder.

but I am so distracted by information, I don't even have a TV or it would be on CNN and C-Span all the time. The internet is a gateway to all sorts of wonderful sites about prions and quarks and democrats and socialists and news, news, news. Its bad news for my grades, classes can't compare to the latest hypothesises about prions, or new cures for multiple drug resistant TB.

8 (short) papers, one big Geology lab assignment, and 3 finals. DU is addictive, and yes, I'm staying. I work on my shit throughout the day, so this is hardly a distraction.

Back in the day when I had finals caffeine had it's place, but couldn't replace amphetamines. Ohhhhh, those black beautys were good for 8 hours...... Achhhh, the younger generation, I'll never understand em.

Be careful with taking a hiatus. I told myself I would just take a week off, and I'm only now - ten months later - getting back to DU. Things just kept happening , and I never got around to checking back in.
