10. If you're in Tuscaloosa
skip Dreamland. It's not what it used to be, although still pretty good. Go instead to Archibald's in Northport, or Archibald's #2 on Buttermilk Road in Cottondale.

Ribs AND Pork, sliced or chopped, best sauce there ever was.

14. NC BBQ
whole hog or shoulder cooked over an open wood fire and seasoned with vinegar and red peppers. This is the only proper BBQ. All others are pale imitations.

16. This is a tough question
For pit cooked Barbeque, I vote for pork, Carolina style. For home grilling, I'll go for fish or shellfish. Grilled shrimp and grilled salmon are my favorites. Then there's grilled asparagus served with gorgonzola butter, nothing better during the spring.

19. Grew up in South GA in my grandfather's BBQ restaurant
South GA BBQ is best because there are no manic groups of dogmatic freaks fighting over the amount of mustard versus ketchup versus mustard.

Boyd's BBQ in Statesboro is the best since my grandfather's place has closed down.

24. Pork is good, but mutton is better
But ya gotta go to Owensboro, KY to get it done right. There's a restaurant there, which shall remain nameless that serves over 3,000,000 pounds of barbecue each year. Yes, I said THREE MILLION POUNDS. It's a favorite of retired Senator Wendall Ford (D-KY) and has served both Al Gore and Bill Clinton while they were in office. Other notables that have eaten there - and raved about it - include aw hell, it'd take the rest of the night to list them all.

FYI, it's run by a very strong progressive family, so they should get our support when we're in the area.

28. An important point. GRILLED AIN'T BARBECUED!
Good barbecue takes hours, preferably overnight.

Grilling is over in a few minutes.
