Ladies & Gents it pays to buy Kitchenaid
My refurbished Kitchenaid Martha Stewart mixer broke down two months after I got it and they sent me another Professional Mixer and bumped it up to the more expensive one.

I say that is a damn good deal and they stand behind their products.

1. I love their product too

My folks had a KA dishwasher for 30 years and were disappointed that it broke. Go figure. They used it every single day.

I've had my top of the line KA dishwasher for 10 years now, but I only use it once a week. My KA mixer is nice too, but I don't use it much.

2. We use Kitchenaid at Culinary College
You can drop them and they still turn on.

30 years is a long time I bet that dishwasher is still better then the ones they have out today.

I have a pretty red professional mixer that is working fine now. It will probably break the day before the warranty runs out.

3. I have had the same junky mixer by Sunbeam that my mother
got as a wedding gift 39 years ago. It still works, came with three bowls, and 3 different blades, and guess what? It's never needed to be repaired. Sure it's ugly as all getout (olive green), but it's made 39 batches of Christmas cookies...I just can't buy into the KitchenAid price. And people tell me I am an excellent cook...even without the fancy trimmings. :)

4. This was a used model
I had to have a mixer that you can mix dough in so I got one used off of ebay and I flipped out when the motor burned out a few weeks back.
You have a good mixer and they don't make them like that anymore.

6. My KitchenAid mixer is like driving a Rolls
It was expensive but worth it. I have a KitchenAid washer that's
taken more abuse in the last 11 years than I care to remember. And
still it runs like a dream. Mostly made in America I believe.

11. They are not the same as they were 11 years ago
The plant is not in the states anymore and the parts are shit.

They break down all of the time at Culinary College and it's not from dropping them because the motor goes on all of them.

7. You had the demo model...
...Martha had been using it to shred confidential shareholder memos, so the moter was pretty worn by the time you got it.

I'm glad you got eventual satisfaction!

10. Hey it looked pretty in the picture but when it arrived it was ugly
It looked like a 50's green that was almost clear. I don't know how to explain it and it was a disgusting green and I had to borrow the 200 bucks off of my Dad for it and he is a poor senior.

He bitched about the way it looked and said it looked like a piece of garbage. My Sister said that I told you so when it broke down.

They sent me another used one that I hope holds out until after I am done with School.

It works I am happy and it's a nice pretty red.

15. If its about 25 years old it will work
for a long time. The green is awful. The design is prehistoric.

17. This was a new model but it was refurbished
If it was an old one I bet that it would still be working.

They sell crap to us these days and we put up with it.

The green was so damn ugly. How dare Martha Stewart approve such and ugly color.

28. The Martha Stewart shit is lame..
and is right on script with Rove's plan. She is a DEMOCRAT..hence she is being prosecuted for putting a 'put' order on her stock. She is also conveniently 'unable' to make donations to Democratic candidates while her finances are tied down.

The idea is: Think Martha not Kenny. We really don’t need the GOP play sheet here in DU.

8. But not their dishwashers
Have had two (why oh why did I get another?) that didn't last. Now am happy with Whirlpool AND they are made in USA - may be the only ones that are, now.

14. Mixers were made by Hobart long ago
and were very good. I won’t use them now. They are clunky and often stall. The 300 watt 4.5 qt mixer will not turn dough well and its spade design toughens puff pastry. The 530 watt mixer works quite well but why should a home kitchen have such a beast, at 375 dollars?

I have a Kitchenaid "Ultimacook" Micro/convection oven and after 2 replacements I can now use it but the carrousel still grinds. I have a Kitchenaid Superba oven that will go into a grounding error mode if the oven and stove top are used at the same time. It has been replaced once. I have Kenmore Elite built in convection oven that has never missed a beat. I have a Kenmore Elite dishwasher and refrigerator that have never been a problem. I have a Kenmore front loader laundry set that work beautifully. All of these items were purchased a year ago. I will never buy a Kitchenaid product again. I still have to get the range replaced..a second time.

I bought a full set of the Kitchenaid silicone utensils. They suck. I do like my Kitchenaid dish towels though.

it was 365 in Bed bath and beyond yesterday when I looked. I cannot remember that thing under 300 in years. The 4.5 qt is 195 today.

18. Swap out those wimpy mixer motors
With a power drill motor!!!! I got a 24 volt DeWalt cordless hammer drill that I hardly use. Was gonna use the motor for an RC car (the motor turns at 2000 RPMs wouldn't need much gearing to make a fast car). The only problem would be any mixer powered by this motor would need to be bolted to the couter top, in a drill the motor has wrist breaking torque. Should have no problems with bread dough.

19. When I bake at School I clear two long tables off for myself
I hook up anywhere from 4 to 6 mixers and I go to town. I get my shit done faster then anyone at the College because I take up all the room. (Just kidding)

I TA and I do other things on the side for the teacher but when all of the machines are going the heavy tables start to move.

26. What would you make that takes that kind of a beating?
I have always found 1 mixer sufficient. I only cook for two people, maybe that is it. I suppose if I was cooking for a big bash..but then again I have done that and usually try to avoid baking in mass quantities.

I use a DeLonghi mixer. It is pretty and powerful.

27. We have to bake several different kinds of bread in one night
You get the dough done and you take the bowls off of the mixer and you put them in the proof box and it home free from there on out.

I love baking bread.

30. I love making bread too..
but I proof my stuff out of the bowl on parchment paper. I let the poolish rise in a bowl on occasion. I have a home made proof box and I don’t think I could get a bowl under it.

I just installed a stone liner in one of my ovens and I have steam rig in it. The bread is getting better and better...

23. I have such a drill too..
and I suppose you could put a paint stirrer bit on it and bring it into the kitchen. I have a Porter cable 3/4 inch hammer drill..I imagine that would work too.

But I was schooled in Europe and am concerned that food be eatable....
