PlayStation 2
My friend is returning to Fiji after a six-month stay & is wondering if he can purchase Sony PlayStation 2 for use in his country.
Electrical items require conversion, but what about something such as this that offers DVD & is used with a monitor (TV, etc.).

I've been searching the Internet for a couple of hours with this question and have found no success, so I decided to turn to you guys. I don't post much at all, but am a regular, very enthusiastic reader.

Thanks for any help you can give.

1. He may not have t.v. compatibility.
Depends what kind of connection is common in his country. He will most likely require a voltage adaptor but the image feed may not be compatible. If it's RCA adaptors he may luck out on universality but coaxial may or may not work. He'll have to research it some more. That's all I got.

2. PAL or NTSC?
These are the two video formats used around the world. The US is NTSC and most of the rest of the world is PAL.

He needs to find out if the TV or monitor he'll hook it up to is PAL or NTSC. If it's different, he'll need a converter:

'Course, I could be wrong--I have an Xbox ;)

4. Thanks!
That's kind of what I suspected. My family has lived in Australia for years, and we have dealt with these problems many times. I just wasn't quite sure about the specific requirements for Fiji.
BTW, the PS reporter is an excellent reference which I shall pass on.

Thanks so much for all your input.
