I have been waiting for this day for 10 years!
Vroom, vroom!

I'll be taking off sometime around 10am today to get my license back! EVERYTHING in my life changes today...and I mean EVERYTHING!

5. I used to be a raging alcoholic in my early 20's

because I had undiagnosed manic depression. I was in two DWI's and a simple car wreck...don't worry, no one else was hurt.

I was young, stupid, suicidal, and ill without knowing why I was ill...so I self-medicated myself to stop the voices in my head.

No excuse, but I'm a different person now, as many DUers can tell you.

In Indiana they have a law that takes your license away if you get too many points (for whatever reason, they can be speeding tickets) for ten years. Today my ten years is up.

Dare I ask what happened that you've not had a license for 10 years?

Good luck, but watch out. There are a lot more bad drivers (and SUVs) on the road today than there were 10 years ago.

It's not how you remember it. The roads are the same, with maybe a few more potholes. But there are ten times as many cars and half of them are SUVs as big as tanks, everybody's 20 times as pissed off and the assholes are all packing heat. Have fun.

I haven't been able to drive a car for 17 days (recuperating from a car accident) and already I'm feeling "trapped." I can't imagine what it's been like for you for 10 years.

If run out and buy a new car (to go with your new license), buy something that holds up well after hitting a tree (that would not be a Porsche - take it from me - Yeeouch!)

There's more than a few family members who read this site, but they don't know my name. They don't read it enough to know who I am, so I'm safe from having to deal with them in real life.

I'm not scared of the RW or anyone else knowing about me, but I sure as heck don't want some members of my family following every little thing I say here.
