Now, I want to show you something I'm really proud of

These are asiatic Lillies from my backyard (last year's crop). To keep them looking this nice, I have to visit them every day during the Summer, mornings and evenings, and pick all the asiatic beetles off by hand. No pesticides, just hand pick the buggers and crush them. I think it's worth the effort, don't you?

I pick bugs by hand too, and I really dislike the 'insecticide' part of the job. I wish that they would all go to some other plant so that I don't have to bother them, or that a natural predator will show up and take care of the problem for me. Soldier bugs are my aphid assassination squad, for example.

I don't have much success with asiatic lilies -- thank you for sharing yours.

13. I love watching the wasps patrol the garden

they pick off a lot of the caterpillars. But nothing seems to prey on asiatic beetles; those have no predators but us, it seems.
