1. They probably do but might have different names (MacInTax for TurboTax)
If you buy one of the new Mac Mini CPUs, which has an Intel processor, you can run both Mac OS and Windows XP on the same machine and have the best/worst of both worlds (best of Mac, worst of PC)

3. The NEW ones only. And eventually, all Mac CPUs. Apple is slowly replacing
all the Mac models with Intel CPU chips rather than Motorola/IBM CPUs. Eventually their whole product line will have Intel chips, making it very easy to run both Windows XP and MacOS on one CPU. It can be done now on any Mac, but you need PC simluation software to do it. With the Intel CPU you can do it for real. The next step beyond that, is to offer the MacOS for all PCs across the board, something Apple should have done 20 years ago, but they never did - and probably never will do, because it would hurt Apple's hardware sales. When shopping for a Mac now, you will need to study their product line carefully to see exactly which models are currently offered with Intel CPUs. The beauty of the Mini Mac is that you can probably use the monitor, keyboard and mouse that you already have, and just replace the CPU with the Mini Mac.

8. That's very helpful. I was actually looking at the Apple page
thinking about changing and it was not clear about any of that. I had heard that the changes were being made so that they would be compatible.

4. Faster than a PC does too.
Apparently, one of the Intel mac models was timed as being faster with Windows than a PC. Macs have always been faster, but apparently they're better at Winblows than a PC, too.

9. My stepdad runs his entire company off of them.
Yep, the whole company, so the people that say Apples can't do everything a PC can business-wise are wrong. Smart people use Macs. Plus they're a blue company.

10. I'll miss you.
I only had my first ever experience with a Mac this past semester in school. I believe if I was on a reality show and had to use a mac again, they would have to bleep me. I really didn't like it. If I want an experience like that I can put my computer in the mirror and try to find the minimize, maximize and close button in the title bar backasswards like that. It just wasn't my thing. Don't even get me started on the funky mouse. I hated it.

11. Totally...
I'm a Mac user that gets stuck using Windows in the same way.

Not really, I can switch back and forth easily. Typing this from an iMac running XP with BootCamp..

12. i bought a MAC about 6 months ago
I'm still getting used to it. Some things are nice, but there are a lot of things that seem to be counter-intuitive and my internet is generally slower than it is on my 5 year old Dell PC using the same DSL modem.

15. I got a new MacBook Pro a bit less than a week ago.
Never had any interest until they came out with the Intel versions - meaning I could have my windows apps as well as learn something about mac computers. Was going to install the windows stuff straight away - but so far, not having the desire to do so I was anticipating.

I'm a FreeBSD nerd - so that adds to my excitement w/ OS X.

I'm pretty sure those tax programs come in mac versions.... my MBP even came with it's very own version of Quickbooks.

26. No Problem
I went over to a Mac after my 6 year old PC finally went off to Valhalla. When I switched, I merely plugged in my Logitech two-button scroll-wheel mouse. The box said it was Mac compatible. And it was. I didn't even have to load a driver. That was almost 2 1/2 years ago. Such a relief. I've spent less time trying to suss out why the machine isn't working, and more on other things that I want to do.

25. Me, too...
I'll have the keep reading this thread to learn more.

I do a lot of volunteer art work for a local ballet company -- and I have a Dell Inspiron 8600, which I thought could accommodate all the graphics. (I'm not a graphics artist -- I'm a painter -- but I can manage.) Anyway, EVERYONE tells me they cannot believe I don't have a MAC.

Sorry for my ignorance...but what is the major difference, graphics-wise.

(I will say that 2 or 3 times my Microsoft Publisher software just shut down -- when I HAD NOT saved the project! Nightmare!)

Thanks. Sorry to intrude....
