There is an animal in my crawl space that is raising hell
Scared the shit out of me at first. It sounds like it's tearing out my duct work. It's probably just a cat, though. I'm missing one of the vents to my crawl space. A conventional vent will not fit it. I guess it's time to put my brain to use and come up with something to block the vent. I don't want to trap the critter under the house, though.

Man, that's scary when it's dark. I'm having visions of some creature from hell popping up through one of the vents inside my house.

5. I guess it could be
I haven't seen those types of critters here in the little subrub I live in, though. However, I have seen a cat come out of the exposed vent to the crawl space.

6. Get some kippers in tomato sauce and leave ONE in front of
the opening. You will either lose your friend or start a party.

Bare handed combat isn't recommended by Them. :)

11. I don't think so
Everything is pretty sealed off up there. It had to be a small critter to get through the crawl space opening. Probably a squirrel like you suggested or maybe that cat that I saw coming out of there one day. I wouldn't think that a cat would make that much noise, though. A squirrel is probably the likely culprit. It sounded like it was under there throwing gravel at my duct work.

10. Havaheart humane trap
your vet or local shelter shd have 1. you'll likely have to put it IN the crawlspace. sounds like your little buddy panicked because it cdn't find the way out.

or they're mating & mutating...

12. I'll keep that in mind
Edited on Thu May-18-06 09:29 AM by Droopy
I'd much rather trap it and turn it loose out in the woods than kill it. The noise has settled down now that the sun has come up.

16. good luck, Droop!
animal control is a good resource, sometimes. most "pest control" companies are inhumane and unreliable.

if you determine it's a cat, there may be a "feral rescue" person in your area; i operate a non-profit doing that. google or call the local vet.
