Man Arrested For Stealing Neighbor's Front Yard
<snip>

ADELANTO, Calif. -- It was a sod story for a Mojave Desert homeowner whose entire front yard -- grass, bushes and sprinklers -- was hauled away by a thief.

The homeowner telephoned deputies to report that the yard in front of his home, which is under construction, was gone, San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Staci Johnson said Tuesday.

Witnesses told the homeowner they saw the thief taking the sod, plants and irrigation system to a nearby residence, Johnson said.

David Roger Bowers, 34, was arrested and booked for investigation of grand theft and possession of stolen property, Johnson said.

The landscaping materials were returned to the victim.

1. Hmmmm.....I could use some new sod.
I guess I should probably try a different neighborhood, though. :)

2. I had a college professor who told us a similiar story
in a middle class neighborhood in Newport News the folks went out of town so the kids threw a humdinger of a party. The end results were:

A pound of flour was in the aquarium :cry:
One room (the dining room I think) was tarred and feathered-somehow

AND

the backhoe being used down the street for waterworks or construction or something was borrowed and the front yard was pulled back to the street (they dropped the front end loader between the house and the shrubs and dragged it all backwards) pulled back to the street....because they needed somewhere to park the cars and you know they didn't want to ruin the grass.

True story.
