Just thought I'd say hi

I guess it's time for me to reintroduce myself.

I had been a semi-regular poster and constant lurker since July 2001, but about 10 months ago, I decided to take a week off from DU, and the internet entirely. Unfortunately, that happened to be the start of a very strange week, which led to the busiest and weirdest few months of my life. So, the DU suddenly became a low priority. But I'm starting to manage my life a little better, and I'll be around semi-regularly, hopefully for a while.

7. Actually...

I got the name from Miyamoto Musashi, a sixteenth century Japanese artist and swordsman. He was said to have defeated more than sixty men in duels, and invented a system for using two swords at once. He then retired at the age of thirty, and became renowned for his monochromatic paintings. He also wrote the Book of Five Rings, which is sort of the Japanese Art of War.

Never seen much sumo. Although I would guess that "Musashimaru" got his name from the same person as me.

Nope, my ancestry is primarily Scots-Irish, with some French and Norwegian thrown in there, too. The Japanese have always interested me, but I'm not actually Japanese. I suppose my screen name is somewhat deceptive.

I don't know what the current state of the DU Gallery is, but in its first incarnation, my photo was in there, if you were curious.
