Is it possible to sprout a new tooth where a wisdom tooth was taken out?

I had all my wisdom teeth taken out about 20 years ago however just in the past two weeks I have noticed a large bulge on the side of my gums where my wisdom tooth was. It's on the side not the top. Just in the past few days a tiny piece of bone or tooth started cutting through the gums and is now slightly exposed in that spot. It was soar before the bone or tooth was exposed. Is that something growing or did it just get sore where the bone or tooth was causing it to open up and expose the bone?

Any dentists here? Is that just bone or perhaps they didn't get all the tooth out the first time and now it's growing again? It is really soar and it's bugging the crap out of me. I have a dentists appointment next month but I may move it up if the gums don't cover up the exposed bone/tooth and heal.

because it's a medical question. However, IMO, it could be that your dentist didn't remove the root of the wisdom tooth. Or, you could have an abcess in the jaw. Either way, go to your dentist and get it checked out.

has been known to happen that a wisdom tooth has regrown. But I have a feeling that it is just bone. As long as it is not causing you any pain, just wait for your dental appointment. As I said, I am not a dentist, but I have had my share of dental problems and in my experience, if it doesn't hurt don't worry about it until you get to your dentist.
