Need to vent!

I have this group of friends, we chat often, you know shoot the shit mostly. We often talk of things that are really deep, but mostly we hang out just to have a break from the reality of our lives...anyway, today, one of them freaked out and completely berated another friend for sharing what was going on with them. Basically told them to shut up about their life. Totally out of left field! We all share the most silly things with each other, why do you think this friend freaked out on this one?

they were a friend, since they showed up. Guess not.

there is room for redemption, I am a forgiving person, but not without an apology to the person who was slighted. :-)

feeling really bad about making your kiddo sit/nap for no reason! Funny odd, not funny ha-ha. :-)

I will always defend against those that piss on the Lounge!

I like to think we're better than that. Then again, I'm sure these people can't stand the rethug agenda, so it wouldn't be impossible. :scared:

a little session here & there of some kind, but one of them insatiably brings up issues with his sister that we have heard ad nauseum...we look at each other and winch, but it goes on & on = what to do?

because eventually venting becomes tiresome and unproductive; and it's time to move on from the issue.

I must confess that I have gone on too long about a couple of particularly sticky issues. I managed to get the hint when my friends either didn't respond or gently mentioned that counseling might help me get over it.

I've also learned that it can be difficult to determine exactly what someone wants out of a vent. Practical advice? Hugs? A pat on the back and a "You're doing the right thing"? Sometimes I've just outright asked, "How can I be the most help to you? What do you need right now?"
It can occasionally be enough to make them really think for the first time about what they need....
