I'm falling in love with my Mac....is that wrong?
No, I'm serious. I've had my powerbook for about a year and a half. Enough time to get comfortable with Appleworks, Graffle, and OSX. At work I have a windows desktop and a lap top. Its getting to the point where the only thing I use the other machines for is e-mail.

My Mac knows what I want and need. Its always there for me. And if it had a soul it would be a liberal progressive.

I guess there's a reason why I'm twice divorced.

18. Yes, indeed....
....I got a can of compressed air and a package of the official Mac cleaning supplies. I'm going to make him all clean and shiny, as well as blowing out the little pieces of dirt that fall under his keyboard. He loves being pampered like that.

12. my PC is alright
she is a cheap whore, but she's "fast" and knows how to work it. To me, Macs are too elitist, not Rock enough. The Mac is the self-centered, brilliantly enamored whore who wants brie and merlot for Saturday brunch but spouts Chomsky and bemoans the bourgeoisie. That's not to say they aren't completely hot, just not my kind of girl.

But a Mac was my first. At some point I dabbled with PCs and took a walk on the dark side. You know what they say, once you try mac, you never go back. ;-)

My current love is a 15" iMac with a SuperDrive. :loveya:

30. You know...
...I used to work with a right wing ditto head who used to rant on an on about how only "left-wing freaks" used Macintoshes. (I was a Libertarian at the time, before the LP sold out their platform on civil liberties and became GOP-lite. He was trying to convert me. I ended up reregistering as a Democrat. :-)

The look on his face was priceless when he found out his prophet and saviour, Rush Limbaugh, was also a Mac user......He literally could not and would not believe it. Needless to say, I'd rub it in when he started on one of his anti-Mac rants.

As for me, four Macs I own, (G4, a iMac I use as a music server, a white iBook, and my "Hotrod" souped up Pismo G3.), and have been making it a habit to give older macs from my lab, (I'm a sysadmin at a biological research lab), to friends and people who need newer computers. And OS X just absolutely rocks, and this is coming from someone whos first Mac was a 128......

32. My Mac was just delivered Friday.
After six years, my barnacle encrusted PC crashed one last time. It's early, but I like the Mac. Moving files from the old machine to the Mac was a hassle. First, I bought a kit for parallel-to-USB transfer. Only the system requirements neglected to mention Internet Explorer was crucial. (I'd banished it long ago due to application hijackings.) Customer support in India was painful and most unhelpful. So I pulled the hard drive and trained across town to place that pulls data. Somewhere along the way its driver died - kaputt. Luckily, I saved what I could on floppies beforehand. The tech place said it wouldn't work. On the way home I stopped by the Apple Store, where they said it would. So I bought a wee floppy drive. And yes indeed it worked, so it wasn't a total loss. And I retrieved my web page photos from my webpage online. So now I can concentrate on all the neat things I can do now.

A pity when the Mac talks, you can't change the accent.

As for the old PC? A latter day Viking funeral - tossed in the dumpster to Valhalla.

ship with OSX, which is built on a Unix shell. It's extremely stable.

You're going to fall in love with your new Mac and if you have any questions, there's plenty of people here who can help you.

38. If your G3 freezes up "countless times"
then you're probably still using OS 9.0, which was extremely crash-prone. Upgrading to 9.1 cut that in half, and since upgrading to OSX at the end of September, I haven't had ANY crashes.

Your poor G3 is just going on strike to demand a more up-to-date operating system.

35. I've had many a Mac.
Still do. Am typing this on my G4.

I use it for work (graphic design), and it never fails. Heh, well almost never. It will lock up if I work too fast or have too many programs open.

I don't even think it's that pretty. Those handles, for one.

But for ease of use and reliability, it can't be beat. You've got no idea how often I have to give computer advice to my customers who use PCs and can't figure them out.

My first piece of advice is the one they most ignore: buy a Mac.

41. No, it is not wrong to love and cherish such a machine
as the Mac.

It is really more than a mere computer. It is intuitive. It does all you ask of it and then comes back and asks if there are other things it can do.

I have had my 12 inch powerbook for six months now and I LOVE MY MAC!!!!

I also have a windows laptop. The primary reason I have a blows machine is for my Dell Axim PDA that I bought before I met my Mac.

Snagged for $699 from the Apple Store a couple of weeks ago, after some good fortune via the Las Vegas bonus machines and sportsbooks. Now if only I can keep this roll going, I'll sleigh away with an iBook before the end of the year.
