Anyone know how to weather/waterproof outdoor painted wood furniture?
I painted an outdoor bench today and bought some outdoor furniture polyurethane (Minwax Outdoor), but it mentiones "stained" or "bare" wood only.

What can I use on painted (moss green) outdoor wood bench?

Help!

1. Um - paint?
Latex paint is waterproof.

3. Shiiiiiiiiit. THANK YOU.
I cannot believe I didn't catch that. I just looked at the can and it is indeed "exterior paint" which already protects the wood. Hallelujah.

5. Hee!
But like the other poster said, you've got to prepare your chairs for the extra coat. At least some light sanding of the finish. That'll make the new paint stick well.

2. What ever you put on is only as good as the paint underneath it
for out door stuff I like a coat of exterior primer followed by either latex or oil finish coat. Also ask in the diy home improvement forum. Lots of great advice there

4. Thanks. I did use an exterior primer and a latex paint.
I had Home Depot mix it up based on a color I saw in the spray paint section (and kind of had in my mind when I walked in).

I think I'm good to go.
