Does anyone actually LIKE fruitcake?
I pick the dried cherries and nuts out.

Otherwise, I can't stand it.

2. I used to answer "blech" when it came to fruit cake.
But then, a friend got a holiday job at Harry and David (the main joint in Oregon). He sent me a basket of goodies containing a REALLY moist piece of fruit cake. Of course, the moistness had something to do with the brandy *hic* but it was yummy!

3. I love it!
It's traditional Xmas food Down Unda and doesn't have the same bad name as in the States.

but only from the Collin's Street Bakery in Corsicana, Texas. Take one of their's, soak it overnight in Rum, and it's incredible.

17. Oh my yes
Collins St is one of the best. The closest thing I have come to that is a little Amish bakery in our area. They make everything from scratch and their Cowboy Cookies are to die for. Their fruitcake is delicious.

6. As the risk of doing irreperable harm to my reputation...
If it's actually good fruitcake, yes. Please don't pelt me with the hard-as-a-rock ones that have been passed around for years. :-)

Looks like most people either hate it or love it. And lucky for me, more people hate it, and I end up with about 5 of them every year.

12. SEND ME YOUR FRUITCAKE!!!!!
I found two purposes:

1: I built my garage out of old fruitcakes!

2. It really hurts when I hit a freeper in the head with one!

13. Only the one I make. Takes 6 months. Will curl your toes from joy
Old Creole recipe I am sworn to never give out because I wheedled and grovelled to get it from someone who had sworn she would never give it out (my own aunt can you believe?).

Otherwise I almost always hate it.

You can make a good one by using two boxes of date & nut bread mix and adding the dried fruit, nuts and rum in.

28. It depends -
If it has those horrible candied fruits in it, No. But, if it is just dried fruit, nuts, and a lot of booze, they can be okay.
