All right DU, I'm a seething cauldron of rage, can you cheer me up?

Please?

Several mnths ago, acting on a tip from a friend I interbviewed for a job with a very prestigous, world famous employer. During the interview I was assured that the job was mine save for a few HR formalities which needed to be tidied up. I had inside information (the friend who tipped me off) that the interviewer had a personal dislike of my only serious competitor; I did however refrain from bad-mouthing my comptetion, not wishing to be seen as a back stabber or maneuverer.

Well, a few months passed, with little contact other than the occasional "hang in there, be patient--things are coming around" email. I bet you all know where this is going--of course the other guy got the job.

However a different, more senior opening had come up--one which I was personally and repeatedly urged to apply for, and Mr. interview guy said he would ensure that I was interviewed for it. That was on May 1st. Granted this was a large corporation so I expected the wheels to turn a little slowly, but I was wondering when I'd hear anything--even the obligatory "sorry, thanks for playing" letter we are all likely aquainted with.

I bet you see where this is going.

I found out through yet another friend that that job went to a class mate of mine. To add insult to injury, she is twelve years my junior and has only worked part-time jobs and been a student thus far. I don't blame young Ms A_____ for taking the job, but I must confess I do now viscerally detest her, and will be formally polite to her at best. However my true ire is aimed at all "Mr Nice Guy corporate whores" who will smile and promise that they have your back and yet toss you aside the minute that they might actually have to DO something to help you out--and just take the easy way out and preetend they never made their promises.

Well, anybody who meets that defintion just know this: I'd like to fold you up like a pup tent with a gut-punch and then make you eat the corn out of my excrement, you are in fact utterly beneath my contempt.

Here's the fun part, I'm performing my research for my Master's thesis at the company's labs, so yes in fact I WILL see all of these people again.

1. Not that I would suggest anything like this but
There is little more therapeutic than your enemies heads lined up on stakes outside of your lab space. It makes you feel better, and sends a message to the next Corpo-whore that you are not the person to screw around with.

5. And the odd thing is the guy who's lab I'm working has NO idea

about any of this. He is a truly brilliant (probably one of the world's top particle filtration/aerosol scince-type guy)--and very laid back and easygoing.

I had to feign cheerfulness all afternoon because I couldn't bring myself to spoil Lab guy's day!

On the plus side, my project is going well.

2. Ohhhhhh, that truly sucks. Major, unmitigated suckage.

I'm so sorry. Would a hug help?

10. That kind of shit is always frustrating
but you never know, maybe it's for the best. Maybe something better will come along and it will turn out to be a good thing that you didn't get the job. Who can say for sure?

But I've been there, and I know what a pisser it can be.
