What the fuck!?! You guys live next to WI and the only butermilk is powdered shit in a can. How is one to make Soda Bread with that crap?! Tell your milkman that this needs to be rectified.

9. It's probably you pigs from the city hogging it all then
;-)

Seriously though, couldn't find the stuff. Had to use the canned stuff, which works but lacks a little of the creamy goodness.

3. No milkmaids, silly.
That was easy.

By the way, we're not supposed to refer to them as "milkmaids" anymore.

The PC term is "lactose providers".

6. Dutch milkman disease epidemic.
It was awful...their caps turned all yellow and fell off before their once-burly wrists shriveled.

:shudder:

17. You realize that was what led to
the Funniest Joke in the World?

Before he wrote "Wenn ist das Nunstrück git und Slotermeyer? Ja! Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput!" Ernest Scribbler wrote "The room is full of milkmen. Some of them are very old."

He threw that one away. :o

19. Milk delivery still available across most of the UK.
My grandmother still has milk delivery. My parents gave it up some time ago and now have those plastic 1/2 gallon bottles instead.

I think there would be a place for a perishable food delivery person. IF it was set up in the right way.

Mark.

21. Food delivery is actually taking off in a big way here.
Order from the supermarkets on-line, then they deliver at a pre-arranged time in refrigerated vans.

Not the same thing as a delivery man making a round - but some have postulated that it's a 21st century reinvention of it.
