Squeech music live in Boston
On Friday the 26th, I'll be playing with the band Tim Mungenast and his Pre-Existing Conditions. Time is 9:45 PM, place is All Asia, a very nice coffee shop on Mass. Ave. in Cambridge, between Central Square and MIT.

We'll do some different stuff. For one thing, I'm going to be singing Tim's song "Therapeutic Delusions" a/k/a "Spinach." (We've been rehearsing it with my vocalizing all month.) We might even do one song of mine, "Restless," which we've only been rehearsing for a couple weeks, and I'm not sure it's ready to play out yet-- I'm not happy with the arrangement, I don't think it's compelling, plus I keep forgetting the words in the heat of the moment. (Playing bass and singing at the same time is not easy, and more practice could only help.)

And we'll be doing an unprecedented amount of improvising. We actually got a real nice review of our improv CD with Ken Field (saxophonist/flutist Birdsongs of the Mesozoic). So we're psyched to play that way even more frequently, hopefully earn a reputation as a formidable jam band.

I'll be doing my usual shameless self-promotion kicking this post throughout the day. Sorry about that. At least it ain't kudzu.

2. Thank you
Both for the good wishes and for the opportunity for a thinly disguised kick :D

4. I saw Roger Miller once here
I can't remember if it was solo or with Birdsongs. A guy in my band (back before being a mom took up much of my time previously dedicated to playing drums and what have you) was really into them and MOB.

5. Cool
We still see them from time to time. We ran into Miller watching a local country & western pastiche in a teeny little Inman Square bar (not the Inn Square, that closed years ago :-( ) Birdsongs is playing next weekend, a set of spirituals (!) in a church (!). They're probably my favorite band currently working in the world.
