On Friday the 26th, I'll be playing with the band Tim Mungenast and his Pre-Existing Conditions. Time is 9:45 PM, place is All Asia, a very nice coffee shop on Mass. Ave. in Cambridge, between Central Square and MIT.
We'll do some different stuff. For one thing, I'm going to be singing Tim's song "Therapeutic Delusions" a/k/a "Spinach." (We've been rehearsing it with my vocalizing all month.) We might even do one song of mine, "Restless," which we've only been rehearsing for a couple weeks, and I'm not sure it's ready to play out yet-- I'm not happy with the arrangement, I don't think it's compelling, plus I keep forgetting the words in the heat of the moment. (Playing bass and singing at the same time is not easy, and more practice could only help.)
And we'll be doing an unprecedented amount of improvising. We actually got a real nice review of our improv CD with Ken Field (saxophonist/flutist Birdsongs of the Mesozoic). So we're psyched to play that way even more frequently, hopefully earn a reputation as a formidable jam band.
I'll be doing my usual shameless self-promotion kicking this post throughout the day. Sorry about that. At least it ain't kudzu.
