Has anyone else had all of their teeth removed at once?

I don't think anyone has had 20 teeth pulled at once have they?

There are people who think that they know what someone else is feeling and know the treatment that they need or they think that they know what it's like to have a full mouth of teeth extracted at one time. You don't know what you are talking about at all.

They need to think again because if you haven't been there yourself and you don't know what it does to you psychologically either. They need to SHUT UP instead of making sick comments about a toothless person and connecting your links to pictures of people without teeth.


Recently I thought that several people were kids because of their attitude and I didn't realize that they were OLD and I mean OLD enough to be someones Grandmother because of the links in the message thread that they created.

The group that posted the pictures and created that thread know who they are and I want to wish you a Merry Christmas.

I haven't been around DU much for a few months, but I'm back now...

You've gotta realize there will be IDIOTS in ANY large group of people. Anyone who knows what you've been thru would be a total ASS to post any such thing!

I'm sure the psychological effects are even more painful than the physical. I give you alot of credit for even discussing it here. You're one of my favorite DUers, and I hope you have a GREAT holiday season!!!

I took care of my teeth but I had a mercury filling that broke off below the gum line and I didn't have dental insurance and then other teeth started giving me problems.
I ended up with blood poisoning in August and because of some DU'ers I went to the emergency room and they admitted me and all of my teeth had to be taken out.

I can't talk right and I have to go for speech therapy in a few weeks because I can't pronounce certain words anymore.

I use to sing and I was going to try out for some plays in Chicago and that will never happen.

One person on DU has diagnosed me as being crazy and that person isn't in any medical field either.

I started taking diet pills back in October for more then one reason, I was hungry and I couldn't eat and I thought that they would help until my gums were healed.

Every time I take my false teeth out my gums bleed and I have blisters that hurt so bad that pain killers don't stop the pain.

I haven't been the same because it screws with you especially when you had perfect looking teeth and always got compliments on them.

What I hat the most is the thread that was created and the person that posted the links and then changed them a few minutes later.
They were deleted by the cruelty of that person has to come from within and the person is sick.

I talked to my Chef's as College over the phone because I have been sick and they said that the person was probably the one that keeps calling my College.

I am 41 now and I am proud of what I am accomplishing but the depression has grown so bad from not being able to talk right or sing.

My father and and aunt on my mother's side both had all their teeth pulled while still fairly young. My aunt was in her twenties! My father (and brother) just had/have very bad teeth through no fault of their own. I feel really blessed to have very good, strong, healthy teeth. Health is a wonderful thing. Never take it for granted. It can sho nuff go away.

nothing personal, but you seem to enable many people in their ability to bother you. it's not rocket science.

What is the funniest thing was I thought that they were kids and they were older adults. They were old enough to be someones grandparent which is so damn sad.

The kids at my College have so much more going for them then the jerks that attacked me the other night.

I love the kids at my College and one of the young guys didn't know my age wants to fix me up with his Dad. Damn cute kid he is 18 years old but he is so much better then older adults that have insecurities them selfs.

back when you had to pay extra for novocaine, so he didn't take any and instead bought a fifth of whiskey after he left the dentist.
That's one of those stories I heard when I was a kid and it didn't really register until I got older when I realized the significance.

I had to hand them cash up front of they were going to take them out without it. Nothing has changed for the poor.

It is very clear to anyone who is even remotely
intuitive that you are an exceptionally warm and
wonderful person. Shame on anyone who
has been insensitive to your unfortunate experience.

I empathize greatly with your pain- I have been
in dental hell for three years now- a genetic condition
which seems so unfair because I have always taken
immpecable care of my teeth, and it turns out
that no matter what I tried to do, the problem was
inevitable and there was nothing I could have done
to prevent it.
I HATE going to the dentist! If it's not a man I love,
I don't want him anywhere my mouth, THANK YOU!

The psychological aspect is very difficult.
Our mouths are very vunerable, emotionally and
otherwise. We use them to communicate verbally
and with smiles, kisses, and song. It is terribly sad
to think that people here in the DU family could
be so callous and uncaring about your loss of something
so personal. I can't imagine someone making fun
of you if you had shared the loss of a limb.
I see no difference with your teeth- they are a part
of you and you must be very gentle with yourself
and allow your self to be sad, with SAFE people,
who understand.

You would have died if you have seen the links on that thread that were changed and deleted within a short period.

I sat crying for hours and for several days on and off. I thought that they were kids or people in their early 20's and they are older than I am but what hurt the worse was seeing someone that I called a friend post on the same thread and that hurt the worse.

No matter what kind of a job that I have had or how I have looked in the past I have always been good to everyone that I have come in contact with. I was allays the one showing up at friends doors when they ran out of groceries after their husbands left them and I would treat their kids to outings and everything.

One kid at Culinary College is missing part of a limb and we all pitch in to help him out. I would stick up for that kid any day or time because he is just like one of us and we could all be in the same shape as he is.

Genetic tooth loss is a bitch. My Sister lost her teeth at 21 because she had some type of genetic disease and she couldn't help it. It use to hurt me when someone would say something cruel to her.

Some people feel that they are better then others but inside they know they are just the same but to build up their self esteem they make fun of others. I have never done that at all.

They think that you want pity but it's not pity all you want it to be treated like all of the others and for people not to say all she does is bitch about her problems. I have had more then a few problems and when you are broke allot more happens then when you have money.

I empathize with you. I used to joke that the dentist and I were more intimate than I was with my hubby. Your food posts are very enjoyable and I usually read them when I see them. Hang in there.

I started losing my teeth when I was in my late 20s, and through my 30s, when I couldn't afford a dentist, I waited until they were just abou ready to fall out and pulled them myself. Since I had dental insurance three years ago, I went ahead and got a partial. Last year I finally had to get a permanent partial because I lost one of front teeth. If your plates are cutting you and giving you blisters, you can have them adjusted for a small fee. If you have the opportunity, get the new Valplast plates, they are great, flexible, and guaranteed for life.

I will ask them about the dentures. Do you know if they cost allot more and will the bottom ones stay in?

I was doing homework that night and I had some extra time.

I haven't cried that hard in a long time but the worse part was seeing someones name on the thread that I thought was a friend of mine but I am not sure if he looked at the links or not and I will never know if he did.

well worth it. I had a temp. partial for about a ywear and it was awful, full of metal hooks and very stiff, hard plastic. When I lost the fron tooth last year, my dentisit wanted to give me another of the same material, and I asked how much the dental insurance would cover. He told me that temps aren't covered at all, so I told him to forget the temp., and give me a permanent partial. The temp. would have cost me $350, and the Valplast permanent cost me $550, but again, it is guaranteed for life (not its, mine). The insurance paid for the other $450. They are very comfortable and I have never had to use any adhesive to keep them in. I eat normally (as evidenced by the fact that I have a few more pounds than I need), and quite often forget that I even have them in. Don't let people with empty hearts ruin your day. They certainly cannot be very happy with their own lives if they nothing better to do than trash others. Shun them, for they are fools.

i was in a traffic accident in my 20s and basically ATE the steering wheel. they wired everything back in place (more or less) but by my 30s, nerve damage had taken it's toll.

my (HORRID) ex- was very cruel during my toothless days.

i feel for you. it was one of the hardest times on so many levels.

When you had your teeth out did the bleeding stop or did it continue for a while?

Were you hungry but you couldn't eat?

One of the reasons that I took the diet pills was to make the hunger go away. Sure people tells you to eat soup but how long can you eat soup without :puke: it up.

Do you use denture glue for your teeth?

did not have bleeding. don't remember any appetite issues but ate range of 'soft' foods. yogurt, applesauce, oatmeal, paste, rice pilafs, etc.

I am going to have several implants put in to hold the teeth down but I am afraid to have it done.

... a year and a half ago. I enjoyed the Valium injection, but still I'm having a hard time ... eating isn't the same or as enjoyable as it used to be, and I've lost quite a bit of weight..

Some people lose them from not taking care of them others have medical conditions that they can't help or avoid.

... dunno what John Cleese's problem was, but he talked about it on one of those "science" programs (Was it Nova?) I forget. It was a multi-episode series about the human body, or somesuch. Narrating the program, he confessed to not having a tooth in his head.

but I had the last four teeth in front pulled (I let the others fall out, or had them yanked one by one over a few years-- no dental insurance either)

When I got feeling back, I couldn't believe how it hurt. Spent the day gobbling painkillers. Can't imagine what getting a whole mouthfull pulled at once would be like. I did know one guy who had uppers and lowers done at the same time to get it over with. He disappeared for a few days and wouldn't talk about it when he showed up.

You're not alone. Me, I joked and bragged about my new "storebought teeth" when I got 'em-- looked a lot better than the lousy ones I came with, and I could smile again, but most people try to hide it, or don't think it worth mentioning. I started to play my own little private game of "guess the dentures." Amazing how many people have plastic teeth.

People throw jabs all the time, sometimes they're trying to be funny, sometimes they're just mean. Try not to let them get to you.

The pain is so damn bad no one can imagine what it feels like unless they have had it done.

I had a bartender at Bar Louie send me a shot of whiskey over for free right after it was done and I didn't want to hurt his feelings so I put it in my mouth and I came out of that chair and did the Irish Jig for him and all of the other patrons in the bar while screaming. My Sister put an AC/DC tune on "Highway to Hell" and I shouted to that tune.

I am afraid to even kiss a guy ever again.

BTW It's the same old group of people over and over again night after night. They think that I am crazy but they don't know me. I use to do stand up comedy and I like to laugh. I will have a toothless laugh and I am sure men will think dirty thought about going out with me but hell that's life.

Being OLD enough to be a grandmother does not mean that you are OLD. My sister was a grandmother at 37. And I was a grandmother at 43.

Sorry for the sarcasm, but I am a bit sensitive about age. Those people that are in their 20s and 30s think that old is anyone over 50.

I was supposed to have all my teeth pulled over 4 years ago. But so far, I still have them. But it won't be long now. Every tooth in my mouth is loose. I have spent over $10,000 over the past 20 years fighting to keep my teeth, but I am tired of the battle. I have had root canals, periodontial work, bridges, you name it. But I am giving up the fight.

More like 65 by the way that the person who created the thread looks in the picture.

When a friend of mine had no insurance, she used to have her dental work done at an excellent dental school in the area. The work is done by students, though not beginning students and they are supervised. It's also much cheaper.

As for the eating problem, do you ever drink protein shakes, Slim Fast shakes, etc. Yeah, you can get sick of them, but there are a lot of flavors, they're tasty, and they are nutritional as well. I drink a Slim Fast for breakfast every morning just to save some time.

I've read other posts of yours about your teeth, and I'm so sorry to hear about your situation and that people are so ignorant that they'd make fun of you. My father's teeth all got pulled when he was in his twenties; he was in the army, and that's how they dealt with a tooth problem. So he's had false teeth since then.

Do the best you can to take care of your situation with your mouth now, and have faith that things WILL be better eventually. I've seen your posts mentioning your past on the road with bands, and I think you were living a life that would be enviable to many people. You're going to school to do something you love and moving your life forward. That's a good thing; don't pay attention to those who put you down.

The person put a link to one of to a toothless picture and changed it to one of my message threads and then it was deleted.

If you have teeth, of whatever flavor, you do not have a toothless laugh, nor are you toothless.

What said teeth are made of, and whether any or all are removable, is a private matter between you, your dentist, and your toothbrush.

Showing you pictures of people without teeth is like someone showing Nicole Kidman pictures of people without eyeliner.

It is not worth any more keystrokes than I have given it, if that.
