The purpose of advertising is to create demand.
Advertisers attempt to create demand when they feel there is not enough.

Advertisers are attempting to create demand for Pink Floyd.

I don't see any ads for anything related to Oasis, because they know the demand is already there.

Score one for Oasis.

1. But it's not a point against The Beatles, so does it really count?

2. There is a separate Oasis vs. Pink Floyd match.
It does not get as heated as Radiohead vs. Pink Floyd, but it's there.

3. It's cuz Oasis fans can't read, and the advertisers know Oasis "fans" also

don't have enough to money buy albums because Burger King ain't payin' so hot, and they gotta pay rent on that swanky basement room they're renting from Mom, and since they scratched their '74 Pacer against the lightpole near the entrance to the warehouse where the latest glowstick masturbation-rave-fest took place, money's been kinda tight, you know?

6. Just as the purpose of advertising is to create demand...
...so is the purpose of screeds of Beatlist propaganda to create scorn.

Where it doesn't exist.

Score one for Oasis.
