Fundie test!!! Try to get a score of Communist!
http://www.worldviewweekend.com/test/register.php

I got -15%!

Remember...

Communist is the best score, while Biblical Theist is the worst score.

I actually got an accidental +2 points from them. I strongly disagreed that God guided evolution and so did they, but for entirely different reasons...

I only got -79 :(. Probably because I gave no opinion on a number of the religion questions, as I'm a born-again deist who doesn't need some 2000-year-old book to tell me about the Almighty.

3. I am a Socialist, I guess...
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 07:42 PM by eyesroll
I agreed with them on a total of threethings -- that civil disobedience is OK, that people must ultimately face consequences, and that separation of church and state isn't worded that way in the Constitution.

#3 is a historical fact. There is no "agree" or "disagree" on that. Either you're right or you're wrong. (It didn't ask if it's implied or if that's what the founders would have wanted.)

The other two, I agreed with them, but probably for wholly different reasons.

On edit: I got a 5%.

109. The whole test was rigged....
with absolute answers...no grey areas. I answered as many questions as I could without puking and then stopped...

I scored a Communist/Marxist with -90, though..so I'm cool with that.

That whole test was a joke...no in betweens such as exists in the real world.

My First Post, by fhqwhgads.

Got -44 out of 204, for a -21%, and a Communist Worldview. I got more positive marks than I would have expected, for items such as "George W. Bush is the President of the United States of America." Hmm.

Now I will do a happy Commie dance.

21. A silly question
Bush is the President of the United States on the grounds that if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck, but that does not mean that he is the 'legitimate' President of the United States, which is probably what they were trying to ask.

with your belief in Jesus as messiah, as though somehow your belief about the Shrub's legitimacy has any bearing whatsoever on one's belief in Jesus as messiah.

Any sane person would realize they are mutually exclusive.

But fundies think they go together.

unless, of course, the president's a democrat, in which case one's belife in the liegitimacy of the president is indirectly proportional to one's belief in Jesus as the messiah.

And that's why they (the fundies) should all just shut up, please. "Hey - fundies - you've just stepped out of the box. No, I'm sorry, but you lied, so you're out of the box. This is a no spin zone. Shut up shut up shut up shut up shut up shut up shut up!!!!"

87. That was the best question.
It revealed that, deep in their heart, the Cons know that Bush stole the election. Otherwise, why would they ask?

You don't need a political viewpoint to know that the sun rises in the East. If you have to ask in a political questionare if W is president, you subliminally acknowledge that something fishy happened in Florida.

Why is a site supposedly advocating a biblical world-view attacking single-payer health care? Where in the Bible - I want chapter and verse - is any mention made of competing health care delivery systems? And guaranteed pensions? Huh?

Does Christ say "Thou shalt eschew Social Security and shalt instead invest thine monies in stocks and bonds. (Investments 25)?"

This isn't religious, its simply political, and covered by a thin veneer of hypocritical religiosity. But I love the leading questions.

Typically leading, stupid, inane, and completely inappropriate questions. So many of them can't possibly have an answer, because they're loaded with so many variables. Like this one The redistribution of wealth is a constitutional and biblical responsibility of government.

Well, hell, there's a big difference between Constitutional and biblical. Obviously, redistribution is not Constitutional - we're not a communist country. But it IS Biblical.

Or this one: Justice requires equality before the law and thus equality of incomes and abilities. It DOES require quality before the law, but has nothing to do with equality of incomes and abilities. Of course not. The question can't be answered.

Or this one: The more a government resembles a pure democracy the more disorder and confusion occur. Well, I'd take it as absolute truth that yes indeed, more disorder and confusion occur. But of course, these ninny heads, who apparently hate the idea of democracy, think it's a bad thing. NO, the truth is this: the disorder and confusion are part of the price we pay for the right to self-governance. Of COURSE it's easier to have a dictator. But, to throw their bullshit back at 'em, Jesus never promised anything easy. he promised only pain and suffering. Ha - take that, you fuckin' rubes!

Or this one: Christianity has had a central role in building our American civilization. Well, fuckin' duh, yeah it has. In many ways positive, and in many ways negative. Some of what we have is because there are good anc ool things that the founding fathers found in it; some of what we have is in direct action AGAINST the bullpucky part of Christianity. But, since pretty much 99% of the country was either Chrsitian or from a place that was officially Christian, then yeah, dipshits, we have to say it had a central role in building our American civilization. but of course, these assmunches want us to say "Yes!" to this question in a way that implies we are saying, "Yes! Everything good about our country is based on solid Christian foundations, and our American civilization isn't just American, it's the purest most solid expression of Christian belief ever conceived by man, because unlike every other nation, America was actually conceived by God Himself."

51. And furthermore, these guys are totally fucked up fucked
and I mean fucked.

So I totally disagreed with them in the science section - scored a mighty negative 36 points. So what do they label me? A communist.

What the fuck is that? What does communism have to do with scientific understanding? NOTHING you clowns!! Communism is an ECONOMIC system, not a PHILOSOPHICAL/SCIENTIFIC system!

Christ. Label me a heretic or something for my scientific beliefs, but don't call me a communist for it.

Dammit.

What kind of crap is this?

I'm a liberal, and a fairly secular one at that. I support free market economies (although necessarily regulated at points), I support individual liberties and I support the existence of private property.

So how in God's name (no pun intended) can they in good conscience call me a Communist?

What part of Communist ideology do they say I adhere to? Utterly ridiculous.

Edited on Thu Dec-11-03 11:03 AM by philosophie_en_rose
For those of you scoring the highest score possible, Biblical Theism, you will be REWARDED with a beautiful, professional looking certificate. This certificate will certify that you took the test and scored as a Biblical Theist. You can print out your certificate at the end of the test, but it will also be emailed to you so you may save it or print it out on beautiful parchiment paper. This certificate would look great on your wall and would also be very rewarding for students who take this test.

I love how they have the "correct" answers at the end of the test. :) The questions are asinine and the "correct" answers are worse.

A pinko commie, baby!

A couple of things I thought were interesting points that we agreed on (?!?!?!):

The correct answer to "The federal government should require students to pass a national test before graduating from high school." was strongly disagree. I guess the fundies don't like NCLB?

"The wording "separation of Church and State" is found in the U.S. Constitution." Actually, even a commie like me knows that phrase isn't in the Constitution, but was coined by Jefferson I believe.

89. I like question #18
George W. Bush is the President of the United States of America.

I knew it! It's a loyalty test! Beware the DHS goon squads! :tinfoilhat:

This one's even better:

The biblical purpose of government is to guarantee equality in schooling, housing and unemployment.

That's gotta be a typo...oops, I forgot...fundies are perfect and experts in knowing the black and white truth of God's universe. My bad.

By the way, the quiz is peppered with stuff like "The biblical purpose of...is...." Many assumptions (like the existence of Heaven, Satan, and the Bible's prescription for a proper Godly government) have to be made to effectively answer some of the questions.

My results:
Your classification is: Communist worldview

Your score is: -9 points of 204 possible, -4%

That's pretty rough for somebody widely recognized as a centrist. I guess from their perspective, I am indeed a Communist. I must say, it doesn't take much to get classified such.

94. losing points for knowing stuff -- not fair!
Edited on Thu Dec-11-03 03:59 PM by iverglas
Of course, I mean "getting" points.

I got points for knowing that the bible doesn't say "money is the root of all evil" (the pursuit of money is the root of evil, I believe), or "god helps those who help themselves" (which I think comes from Greek pantheistic tales, not the bible).

And I got points for knowing that the US constitution doesn't say "separation of church and state".

And I knew I'd get points on all the questions where I agreed that pure majority-rule was "wrong" (which it is -- a proper liberal democracy protects minority rights against majority rule), and that civil disobedience is sometimes right (yeah, even for christians).

And heck, I still came out -23% ... communist.

96. I had the same problems in lowering my score
plus those questions that were unanswerable unless you believe in a Christian sky god ie: "A good person can earn his or her way to heaven if their good deeds outweigh their bad deeds". Assumes that you believe in such a mythical location as heaven. Still I managed to come out with a respectable -39%

Some of the questions were simply nauseating and stupid. "George W. Bush is the President of the United States of America."! I suppose that if you don't agree, that gives you communist points? These must be the people who think * was appointed by Gawd.

I especially enjoyed the idea that good Christians and socialists are at opposite ends of the same spectrum.

Hmm, from their header - "christian apologetics". We had a troll here a couple of months ago who described one of her hobbies as being christian apologetics. Funny, none of them have ever apologized to me.

100. heh heh ... and "conservative" "christians"
I discovered when I got my score that not answering all those "questions that were unanswerable unless you believe in a Christian sky god" (I didn't answer a whole slew of them) "lost" you two points. So heaven only knows what other appalling things I said to result in getting only -23%! Goodness, on the politicalcompass quiz http://www.digitalronin.f2s.com/politicalcompass/index.html
I was lefter than anybody at this site or that!

Of course, I did say that Dubya was not the Prez. Just for the hell of it, and despite having always taken the position that the rules are that the US SC gets the last word, and it did, and so under the rules he's it.

"I especially enjoyed the idea that good Christians and socialists are at opposite ends of the same spectrum."

I'm always touting this analysis of "conservative christian" politicians, by an NDP (social democrat) Member of Parliament up here (and an ordained member of the clergy of the United Church of Canada, which is too "liberal" to have a real counterpart in the US): http://www.punditmag.com/articles/blaikie.html
It was written specifically about the former leader of the Reform Party of Canada (which became the Canadian Alliance shortly afterward, and this month became the united-right Conservative Party), but it's generalizable to "conservative christianity" and what is regarded as "conservative" politics these days, in general.

One can be a conservative Christian and a socialist, or a social democrat, a liberal Christian and a conservative, or a liberal Christian and a socialist. There are many more combinations. Stockwell Day is a conservative Christian and a conservative.

My point here is that, in large part, it would appear that by his own way of describing his belief system, a great many of Day's public policy positions emanate from his adoption of conservatism rather than Christianity. There are things he appears to believe as a Christian, presumably his beliefs on abortion, sexual orientation, independent schools, etc., and things he believes in as a conservative, presumably his beliefs in the flat tax, in a decentralized Canada with a very limited federal government, etc. It also needs to be said, of course, that there are Christians and conservatives who would disagree with him as to whether these are the positions on these issues that should be drawn from Christianity and conservatism, respectively.
