Duck's X-rayed gut has UFO
Unidentified facial object peeks out at technicians at wildbird rescue center
Peter Fimrite, Chronicle Staff Writer

Thursday, May 25, 2006

As if crop circles weren't proof enough that extraterrestrials are among us, an alien has now been found in the stomach of a duck.

That, at least, is the conclusion reached by workers at the International Bird Rescue Research Center in Cordelia (Solano County) when they viewed an X-ray image they took of a sick mallard.

Right there, in the duck's ventriculus, or gizzard, is the shocking image of a grimacing, bald-headed being. How it got there, nobody knows, but when an autopsy was performed after the bird died of unrelated causes, the alien had mysteriously disappeared.

"We're a 35-year-old organization, and we've seen a lot of things - bullets, fish hooks - but this is the first time anything like this has shown up," said Jay Holcomb, executive director of the bird rescue center, which started after a 1971 oil spill beneath the Golden Gate. "I don't know my aliens well, but it looks like one of those with the big eyes and the long fingers."

5. "the shocking image of a grimacing, bald-headed being"
Who do you think of when you hear the description: grimacing, bald-headed being? To me this means that Dead-eye Dick gets his just reward -- the hunted swallows the hunter.

9. Don't mess with that Duck! He ate a being who can travel in space.
Think about that. Perhaps Ducks are the grey aliens natural predators? :)

10. They just had this story on the Spanish language Univision News!
I didn't know what they were saying, because I don't speak Spanish, but they did show it.

My guess is it's just a really weird coincidence, that's the Ducks Gizzard, but they don't usually look like that.

13. Ain't the human brain a funny thing?
We're so good at pattern recognition inately that we see patterns where there aren't any. We try and make everything make sense. Whether it's an alien face in a ducks gizzard or a portrait of the virgin mary within the woodgrain of someone's bedroom door.

The fact that we all see an alien face in that ducks' gizzard doesn't make what the duck ate weird, or the x-ray weird. It makes us, as humans, really really interesting.

At least that's how I see it.
