Jesus Christ you would think that the ads are going to take away your soul. The tinfoil hat brigade is in full force over this.

1. More of an annoyance to ignore...

Granted I hate ads and commercialism as a matter of course. Hence why I use Firefox plus adblock, and also why I'm building a MythTV box to make TV commercial free and easy to record shows onto DVD.

6. Its a lifesaver...

I remember the net back in the OLD days, near the beginning, around '92, '93, NO ads, of course, I was on AOHELL 3.0, or was it 2.0? I forget, and I had a total of 16 on-screen colors on Windows 3.1. Damn was THAT slow, on a 9600 baud modem, but NO ADS DAMMIT!!!!!

Nowadays all I can say, if you are stuck on dialup, then Firefox with adblock is a necessity, not a luxury. I'm sick and tired of websites starting full commercials as shown on television when you get to their websites. Plus, that's on broadband, can you imagine the annoyance of waiting fucking 15 to 20 minutes just to VISIT a site on dialup?
