Good Friday Morning, Crew!

:donut::hi:
Welcome to the Friday edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce::woohoo: We made it to Friday...now we just have to make it through today's work shift and the weekend will be upon us! :bounce: I hope you had a good day yesterday. Mine certainly was interesting! Our DM was there when I arrived and she was her regular ol jolly, laughing self. Right after I got there...things started to get broken. We had an employee working on a glass shelving unit and she didn't have the shelf clips in tight enough, and one of the glass shelves fell, hitting the shelf below it, and both of them shattered into a trillion little pieces! I'm telling you it went EVERYWHERE! No one got hurt, but it surely was a mess! Then, a customer knocked over a glass top table and THAT broke into pieces! Out came the brooms again. Finally, to top it all off, a storm came through Tallahassee and we had a nice long power outtage. It was when the power went out that our DM said she was going to leave before the building fell down or exploded something!

My General Manager is on vacation starting today, and so the store has been handed over to me for the next 8 days! So, I'm going to be a busy boy next week.

Are you ready to get this day started so we can get to the weekend that much faster? I hope you are, because here we go! :bounce:

14. I haven't been to bed, just working around the house.
Also listening to the coyotes howling in woods across the street. I hope all the cats are in their houses, coyotes like cats.

21. I am on the list, I made it.
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I saw one of the coyotes last weekend when I was walking my dog, got some video.

We have a lot of wildlife around here, poor things are losing their space.

I think a coyote got the kitten's mother, that would explain why she never came back for the kitten.

32. My kitten's mother had her baby under my house, I fed her but I guess
she wanted some fresh food. She never came back and her baby is in the house.

I have fenced in yard and my other cat stays in the yard so everyone is safe.

My dog is not happy with the coyotes, all the neighbor dogs are barking right now.

I'm sorry to hear the poor kittens mother never came back. I think you're probably right...the coyotes got her. Is the kitten doing OK though? I assume you had to feed it with a bottle and stuff..

38. She is fine, just big enough to eat.
I did get some baby animal milk from the pet store, she likes the bottle.

Now I have two kittens, I went from having one old cat to three cats in just a few weeks.

Animals know to come to my house.

48. Taking care of the kitten is easy, at a month she is walking , eating and
playing with my other kitten. My old cat isn't happy, he just got used to the older kitten. Now he has to be a foster father to two kittens, he is given me some looks.

My dog is helping with the kittens, she sleeps with them. She is a happy dog.

74. She follows the kittens around, and I think the kittens see her as their
mother. The kittens climb all over my dog, she plays with them.

I don't need to get a babysitter, I have a four footed one.

My dog is the same with little kids and old people, very sweet and protective.

16. Good Morning all - You made it to Friday, and the beginning of........
....a nice long weekend.

Just be sure to take a moment to remember those who fell fighting for this country.:patriot: It's because of them that we can still fight and speak out without being thrown in prison or worse.:patriot:

Doesn't sound to me like your boss brings very good luck with her. It's a good think she left when she did because otherwise you may not have a job to go to today. Now that the DM is gone I hope everything is back to normal again. At least no one got hurt, that's the important thing. You'll do a lot better though. Hey, maybe you and her should switch jobs.:bounce: :applause:

36. Nope, today the lab doors slammed themselves shut, locked and
airsealed themselves as enourmous alarms went off.

It was not my fault btw.

But it was pretty freaky.

(The reason for the nutter doors is that the chem section I was in was for the very advanced only, thus if something goes wrong it could be for all the wrong reasons)

explosives & toxic gasses have to be prevented. (We use the fire escape).

That is one safe lab though. Fire extinguishers everywhere, fire blankets, emergency showers, you name it they have it.

C.D. Masters on Radio 3 playing at the moment, but about to get turned off because the presenter irritates me. I don't recognise the actual piece itself - very 19th century, probably German, but I can't get any closer than that.

with a certain je ne sais quoi which I don't really like. The voice of a radio presenter is particularly important - can be wonderful or terrible.

63. I also disagree with several of his views.
For example, I'm strongly in favour of what is variously called "period instrument" "authentic performance" and many other terms. This basically argues that when a composer wrote music, he had an instrument in mind, and so when we perform it the instrument used should be as similar to that which the composer had in mind as possible.

For example, the piano is a fairly modern instrument - most of the earlier works which are commonly played on piano were written for harpsichord (which sounds very different). So those of us who favour period instruments would suggest that they should be played on harpsichords, rather than on pianos.

He seems to fall into the old-school notion that the modern instruments are the best (being the most modern) so we should play all music on them.

71. Ah, OK...I understand...
I agree with you, TJ! If the piece was written for the harpsichord it should be played on one! That way, you can hear it as the composer meant it to sound!

109. 19 moves???
Good gods! That's WAY too many, my dear! :scared: I hate moving SO much...I can't imagine that many times. Yes, the humidity can get to ANYONE, even me. It feels sometimes like one is swimming through the air.

118. Yep!
It'll be an even 20 when we get into the new, FINAL house. Ten of the moves happened when I was a kid (Army brat) and the rest happened after we got married ... the old Methodist "circuit rider" deal and then working for I've Been Moved (IBM), although I asked for that one. One good thing is that it keeps the house cleaned out. They actually use the length of time you've been in a place as a factor in estimating the cost of the move -- the longer you're their, the more junk you have.

It DOES feel like swimming through the air! And with my breathing problems, it's sometimes hard to actually breathe it in. I'm anxious to get up to where it's a little easier to breathe.

125. It'll be different, that's for sure.
I'm a little nervous about living alone and out of town. Might have to break down and get another dog. You should be seeing a LOT of me then, unless I find so much to do I don't have time to come to DU.

One thing I am looking forward to is the huge yards, even in the rental house. I'm deathly allergic to fragranced laundry products and our neighbor's dryer vent is 10 feet away from my patio ... blows directly into the patio and chases me inside every time she starts up her dryer. If I fight it and stay outside with it, I'm sick for the rest of the day. x( And I LOVE being outdoors! So that part will be great! :bounce:

130. We don't use that scented stuff.
We get the Arm&Hammer detergent that is fragrance free and the Bounce dryer sheets that are as well. I got tired of smelling like bounce all the time. I'll be glad to see you here even more then when you get up there and get settled in! :bounce:

You could live next door to me and I wouldn't get sick when you did your laundry! :bounce: Smart thing you did -- those fragrance chemicals are really toxic and people don't even know it.

Yeah, now if only we could get my laptop fixed. I was looking at the Apple website the other day. That's what I'm getting next. I have bought my last Dell EVER. It still boots up, but the display goes crazy after a few hours and then it has to cool down for several hours before it'll work again. I need to run diagnostics on it again, but I've been too busy. Guess I'll put the PC in a central location in the new place, just in case.

143. My brother-in-law swears by them.
He's a slow learner, apparently (also a repug). He had trouble with his new computer a few years ago and had to take it to the Best Buy geeks to get it fixed. Then he bought a Dell DJ and couldn't get his music loaded on it ... couldn't even get the software installed. Dell was useless with that after several hours of phone calls, so I got it going for him. (BTW, my iPod worked fine right out of the box!) Then he just bought my sister a new Dell computer and it had so many problems she was ready to send it back the first week -- only they said they wouldn't take it back! She had to spend hours on the phone getting it fixed. He still thinks Dell is the best. Like I said, slow learner.

161. I'm glad, too.
What's funny is that I could probably get my laptop fixed for under $500, but I'm already looking at buying a new Apple for probably about $1500. I guess I'm afraid I'll have spent that much once I start replacing parts and then I still won't have a warranty. I read somewhere that the Dell laptops are designed to wear out after a few years. :scared:

Remember the song she used to sing at the end?

I'm so glad we had this time together
Just to have a laugh and sing a song.
Seems we just get started and before you know it
Comes the time we have to say so long.

... or something like that.

You're gonna stay longer? :bounce: :woohoo:

76. Happy Freakin' Good Friday to ya!
I was real disappointed when it turned out yesterday WASN'T Friday! Now that crazy time is over, I'm having a ball at work.

Sorry about the poltergeist(s) at your store. It was good of the visitor to jokingly take the blame for all the disasters and call herself the Jonah.

Three-day weekend coming up! :bounce:

We put the rental house up on craigslist Richmond and we're getting calls already. It was free and we could post four pictures. It must be putting a hurting on the standard classifieds. (If you want to see it, look for 812 West Clay Street posted on Wed. May 24)

I'm looking to relax this weekend and go through some of the piles of paper that are sitting around. Where does this shit come from, an angry junk mail fairy?

Have a great day today, Cap'n! :hi:

176. Good morning!
Ugh...what a night. Ginsberg, one of the cats, came home barely able to walk and his leg was ripped open and bleeding. So it was off to the vet ER at around 2am. It turns out it had been an old bite/scratch that had gotten an aggressive infection (he was fine a couple hours before) and ruptured. They gave him a heavy duty antibiotic shot there and sent him home with more antibiotics. His leg is just awful to look at and he can barely walk. It's rough seeing a young, hyper cat so lamed up.
