How many of you have Memorial Day off?
Since I switched jobs a few months ago, I actually have Memorial Day off for the first time in 20 years! :D Colleges and universities (at least the ones I worked for) never, ever gave employees Memorial Day as a holiday, but the company I work for now follows Federal Reserve holidays. :woohoo:

So, you workin' or not? :P

Glad you've got the day off too. :) The past month, I have had three back-to-back professional conferences, and they take up four to five days each, not to mention the travel time to and from. I'm READY for a break, no matter how small! :D

And i'm a realtor in a tourist trap of a town. Think I can show property on the oceanfront this weekend? No. 2+ hours traffic coming and going and everything's 100% occupied on the oceanfront.

Luckily I won't see a soul unless it rains. It better not rain.

memorial day is a holiday, for students and faculty (though i'm not sure about staff, like the dining halls)(though they were closed for MLK day, so i dunno)

8. Well, at least that's something.
I worked at 5 colleges/universities over a 20-year period, and they ALL had summer school classes on Memorial Day. Ohio State is lucky! :)

fall quarter doesn't start until late september, so it balences out. The only schools that I know are still in are us and Ohio U.

I usually would except part of my job involves doing creel surveys. So this year we got scheduled for Memorial Day, which is going to suck ass because 1) it will be hellaciously hot (well into the 90s already) and 2) lots of drunken rednecks will be out "fishing" and/or drinking.

29. for me, it was computer generated
Our creel schedules are determined by fishing pressure files, which are determined by trailer counts at various ramps. Memorial Day is considered a "weekend" day in terms of fishing pressure which is why it is more likely to come up. As is the 4th of July and Labor Day. All of which I have had to work at various times, though not every year. The only holidays excluded are Thanksgiving , Christmas and New Years.

I think it depends on the state and also the school. NC is a little slack when it comes to having good holidays at colleges and universities. :)

31. Yes, it's the first holiday since New Years Day for my office so we are
READY for a break. Maude, that's a long stretch in there, especially since the first half of it is the dead of winter.

DAY OFF! DAY OFF!

The other great thing about a 3-day weekend is that it is then followed by a 4-day work week!
