2. A whole marathon of them is on today -
or as my son says "A Godzilla Party!!!!!!!!"

I am DVRing G vs Megalon for him. We have all the others on DVD, but I've been enjoying them as I work since this morning.

4. If you haven't seen Shosuke Kaneko's GMK
on a 5PM, you really should. It's the best Godzilla movie since 1954. It's also the most adult. There are actual secondary casualties in that one, which is virtually unheard of in previous and following entries.

Why Toho didn't let him continue on with the series is baffling to me.

6. Oh heavens yes
I've got all of Kurosawa's Shakespeare adaptations on DVD (as well as all his non-Shakespeare samurai films). Throne of Blood is the best filmed version of MacBeth yet created.

7. there's a great shot when they are running on horses through the forest...
Kurosawa tracks them from a distance, moving in, and pushes the camera up through a space in the trees tracking them as they away...stunning, simply stunning use of lens, vision, and filmic space

8. That is a more ambitious shot than the long
tracking shot in the chasm chase during The Hidden Fortress, which is, I think, my second favorite sequence.
