3. I have - 2.5 of 5 depending on who you are (spoilers)
As a movie, outside the scope of the comics, I think it was maybe a 3 star effort. A few glaring problems with the charactirzations and the plot. I deducted a star because nobody seemed to care that Cyclops was dead. I deducted a star because the whole golden gate bridge thing was pointless and stupid. I deducted a half star for the rest of the foibles. Still as a 'movie' I guess it was ok. 2.5 stars. It ain't shit, but I wouldn't serve it to the Queen.

As a comics book adaptation it blew monkey ball chunks. Too much going on for one film. Not enough of the right stuff, too much of the wrong stuff. Doing a fairly lackadaisical effort in portraying one of the iconical comic stories of all time. Too many characters poorly developed. Too many other characters just...plum forgotten...Where'd Nightcrawler go? Why was Rogue in the film at all? Why did they waste time introducing Angel? Why did nobody care that Cyke bought it? Why didn't Magneto pay for his crimes?

Dunno. Not the way I would have done it that's for sure. Not sure how much of it just was that. Taking the Phoenix storyline and compressing it into a 1:45 length movie and expecting anyone to walk away from it intact is probably too much to ask.

Personally I would have done it a two movie parter like Singer wanted. X3 - Phoenix. Good. Powerfull. Battle something really freaking nasty. X4 - Dark Phoenix. Bad. Cosmic. In the end killing herself in a moment of clarity. Oh and not annihilating two other characters along the way.

2.5 stars out of 5. I didn't hate it as much as everyone else it seems.

6. It's better than the first movie, on par with the second
I think the writers, director, and producers actually had more reverence and respect for the comics than the previous regimes. I love Bryan Singer, hated Matthew Vaughn, but regardless of that they showed plenty of signs of just paying lip service to the notion of adapting the books rather than doing something for themselves.

It's unfortunate we were still stuck with some of that douchebag Matthew Vaughns affects on the movie, like an ultra-shitty casting choice for Juggernaut because he wanted to cast his fucking friend rather than an actor who would have been best for the role.

Atleast Ratner made good casting choices after he got on. Kitty and Beasts picks were good, and he stuck with the same guy from X2 for Colossus, something Vaughn wasn't going to do.

25. I thought the Juggernaut was well done
I'll admit that the way they wrote his character it was a bit comedic and having the Scotish (at least he sounds Scotish) actor do it definately was geared toward the comedic aspect. If you wanted Juggernaut to have a more serious role, then I can understand the complaints. Of course, after seeing the google video I was thinking "I'm the Juggernaut Bitch" for the entire movie and finally got to see it. So I was pretty satisfied.

10. I saw it last night. Liked it.
Then again, it seems like I like movies that most DUers hate: Crash, The DaVinci Code, Xmen. If a movie entertains me, then I'm happy. I'm especially not going to over analyze a movie made from a comic book. I don't understand expecting Oscar worthy performances when watching a blue hairy mutant tackle other mutants.

Xavier transfers his mind into the guy in the coma who had no brain function. At the end you see him wake up and talk to the doctor.

14. Can I get away with taking a six year old to it?
He's pretty good about movies.

He sat through Revenge of the Sith with no problem. He also got through King Kong, although he's deathly afraid of spiders now.

Otherwise I'd say that it's no worse than Revenge of the Sith, except maybe a little bit more blood.

28. I dunno
There is quite a bit of death and violence in it, and the way Jean Grey looked at some parts would have freaked me out as a six year old. (Of course, I was a weenie as a six year old.) Your son might do fine; there was a kid who sounded younger than that sitting behind me tonight, and he seemed to take it O.K.

30. Yeah, didn't work out so well.
But i think it had more to do with the fact that they showed that damn Omen remake trailer right before the feature started and it kinda rattled him. Plus, I'm not sure he was feeling tip top today. We had to stand in line in the rain for a bit and I think he just got worn down.

We had to leave right after Magneto broke Juggernaut out. I didn't think it was half bad up to that point. I suspect it got more convoluted and unwieldy during the second half.

I'm going to download a torrent of it so I can see the rest.

19. I thought it was INCREDIBLE (spoilers)
All of the actors were incredible but there were some particular performances that stood out. Ian McKellen was once again perfect as Magneto. The plot was perfectly set up for him, as Magneto SHOULD be leading an army. Hugh Jackman was once again an incredible Wolverine which is a complete 180 for him considering that in real life he does musical theatre and has a high squeaky voice. Patrick Stewart was great as always but I was disappointed that he wasn't in most of the movie.

The guy who played the Juggernaut was spot on, too, and the "I'm the Juggernaut Bitch" line had me falling out of my seat. Of course 90% of the audience didn't get it. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, go to google videos and type "Juggernaut Bitch".

22. Nope, the bad reviews scared me off
I adored the X-Men as a teenager and really dug the first two films, so if The Last Stand is half as rushed and sloppy as rumored, it would be a day-ruining bummer on par with a drunk waiter peeing in my consomme.

Just as they were off on DaVinci, here too the movie is FAR better than the lamo critics (except Ebert), are giving it credit for!

27. I just saw it a few hours ago and enjoyed it
It was my favorite movie of the trilogy. I've never read the comic and know very little of the series' background but, that said, the movie was thoroughly worth watching for this non-comic fan. And my brother-in-law who saw it with me, and is a fan of the comic, liked it as well. So, I guess I disagree with the critics. They seem a little rough lately; I also saw Poseidon recently and thought it was much better than the critics made it out to be.

29. Ratner is a hack. McKellen and Stewart are ALWAYS worth a watch, but
probably best to see on DVD. It was strictly "meh". Ratner has no idea how to really make a story flow. X2 was by far the better film.

I didn't feel it was screamingly awful but "meh" about sums it up.

I knew Ratner was a hack when he screwed up "Red Dragon" despite having Ed Norton, Anthony Hopkins, and Emily Watson in the cast.
