Authorities: Houston Had Bruise, Cut Lip

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- Whitney Houston had a one-inch bruise on her cheek and a cut upper lip when officers responded to a call from her home this week, and police were considering Wednesday whether to pursue charges against her husband, singer Bobby Brown.

The pop singer told officers that Brown beat her after he "confronted" her when she returned home Sunday night, according to a police report. No one was arrested.

Fulton County District Attorney spokesman Erik Friedly said the case had not been turned over to the office Wednesday. "I don't know what the situation is," he said.

Houston told police that Brown, 34, hit the left side of her face with an open right hand. He then went to the airport for a flight to Los Angeles, the Fulton County Police report said. Houston, 40, then contacted police.
