9. It's a great photo!
His studio is just down the street from me and I have a friend who blows glass there. Several times I've been able to take a tour through the private living space and each time is more awe-inspiring than the last!

Here's another site with his work:

10. thank you for the complement
I am so jealous that you get private tours! I've seen two of his exhibitions where they mingle his work into a botanic garden - the Chicago one and the Atlanta one. Chihuly is just so damn amazing!

As for the photo, I think I'll get a print made and frame it. I like it too. My daughter really liked the exhibit. She reacted to it more than she's reacted to anything that we have taken her to see.

21. I saw that one at Garfield Park, that was way cool.
I've seen his stuff at various exhibits, SOFA, whatnot. But I have to say the intermingling of the plant-life and his work was most impressive.

12. damn, just when I thought I was never going to have to go to OKC
ever again, I find out they have a Chihuly collection.

Of course if I decide to come up there to see it, I will have to find the other DU folks up there, so beware.

11. the film of the Venice Chandelier installations is just amazing
if you can find a copy. Our PBS station used to run it during beg a thon and I watch it every time I see it is on.

He took his team to several of the major art glass companies around the world and worked with their teams to craft a unique design reflective of that country, its culture and the traditional "look" of that glasswork, made a chandelier/hanging art piece of each of them and then they were installed in Venice Italy for about a year.
The film is just WOW...they go from scratch to intstall on each piece.

Japan, Mexico, US, Ireland, and others I can't remember..one of them was Waterford Crystal. I suppose each of those pieces is now in a museum somewhere, or back at the glasswork where it was made.

I need to own that film.

I have also seen it on a cable station from time to time too.

my girl was so amazed at what she saw - it was wonderful to see her so interested. Maybe she'll have a future in the glass-blowing business??

And I've seen on PBS about him going to Venice - it was so cool.
