I got to spend a really nice day with PoppyG on Saturday.

He came over and spent the entire day with us, and we didn't bring his kidneys up once. He sat with the kids and told them stories about his childhood. He has a great one about sending away for the comic book 99 cents for 100 soldiers in a foot locker (even!) story...and how he waited and waited for that to come... How it was a 6 by 6 square flimsy, carboard box filled with 100 flat soldiers. :rofl: It is one of my all time favorite stories of his. He had a couple of beers with MrG and then went home...


... and then I cried like the baby I am. Somedays I don't think I can do this. I will feel better when he gets the results of the full body scan. I talked with his doctor (who is also our family doctor) the other day, and he told me he has the best urologic oncologist in the state so I am grateful for that.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and well wishes last week. DUers are truly the best.


On edit: My daughter started calling him Poppy as a baby...even though he said he never wanted to be a Papa, or a Pappy... just a grandpa. Now he wears that name with happiness. :)

You know, I am really glad that he asked his doctor to check out that mass again. I feel as if fate just stepped in. This has to end well. His oncology appt. is on my birthday, so I am taking it as a good sign.

Of course, a lot of people think the world is going to end on my birthday, but I'm taking the positive track... :hug:

Please tell him I was disappointed too. They would always fall down.

I bet he remembers when the comic books went from 10 cents to 12 cents.
