from the post-war blues group at yahoo groups. I recently stumbled across a couple of things online, unrelated to each other, that might be of interest to the group. One is an interview with
Jimmy Reed that was done for a San Francisco radio station shortly before Reed's death. Those with a Real Audio player installed can listen to a recording of the complete one hour interview as originally broadcast by going here:
http://www.jive95.com/previous_archives.htm...and clicking on the link "The Jimmy Reed Interview 1976 - Norman Davis", then scrolling down to "Hear the edited interview" to listen to the recording. Reed comes across as sober, forthright, and relatively articulate (moreso than on some of his recording sessions.)
Also, there's a new documentary film in production called "Maxwell Street: The Final Days". More information is available here:
http://www.maxwellstreetdocumentary.com/There's a 2:30 minute preview/trailer that can be viewed on the web site; I don't know how much blues content will be featured in the final film, but the preview contains a lot, including brief clips of Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, Bo Diddley, Jimmie Lee Robinson, Eddie "Jewtown" Burks, and others, as well some nice vintage footage.
Also very interesting is a link on the site to a series of color photos shot in the 1940s and '50s on Maxwell Street by photographer Charles Cushman. Try this link:
