HURRICANE UPDATE!
The coast is clear...and still no weather in Canada but mostly the important thing is no hurricane, for now.

2. Okay now I have to explain the weather bidness to you
First- it is TROPICAL STORM Aletta not HURRICANE Aletta. The thread was titled HURRICANE UPDATE not WEATHER UPDATE

Second- it is on the West coast so not only is it moving three hours slower it doesn't matter as much

Lastly-it is going to hit Mexico. There is no weather in Mexico either. Check the map.

True story. After the infamous Chicago blizzard of 1967 when we got 26 inches dumped on us in The Big Snow, family friends from Minneapolis called my parents to see if we were all right. They especially wanted to know if there was enough booze to see my parents through. There was.

When the blizzard of 2204? socked the east coast, we were driving home and we ended up staying at the Hershey Park Lodge and Convention Center because the roads were impassable.

One night in the restaurant this guy comes in and starts asking the waitress when does she think the airports will open? When does it say it will stop snowing?

Then, he says to her, deadly serious. "Y'all ain't gonna run out of booze, are ya?

I about fell off my chair.

6. Houston is already having "Tropical Weather"
A low parked just offshore has been pulling thunderstorms through the area for several days. (Dr Neal Frank sported wood last night as he showed us a circular pattern.) There's been minor flooding.

The weather pattern resembles Tropical Storm Allison, the cause of major flooding in 2001. Even in the areas that don't usually flood. www.cs.rice.edu/~dwallach/photo/allison2001/
