Drinking Liberally
Edited on Thu Jun-01-06 03:33 PM by in search of sanity
Here's a link to an article on the Seattle chapter of a national group called "Drinking Liberally." Great name for liberals who meet to discuss public issues.
Does anyone here belong to or know anything about these pickled people?

2. I signed up for the Morristown, NJ one, but I haven't gone yet.
When I do, I'll post about it.

3. I'm a DL host/organizer in Milwaukee
It's exactly as it sounds -- we show up twice a month at a designated time (7, second and fourth Wednesdays) and a designated place (Club Garibaldi's back room) and socialize. There's no agenda, no speeches, no political parties -- we've gotten Dems, Greens, Independents, Socialists and others. But lots of beer. We get around 30 people each time -- about 15-20 regulars, and the rest newbies and rotating not-so-regulars.

We don't do "featured guests" -- but we've gotten congressional candidates Bryan Kennedy (D-WI-5), Bob Levis (G-WI-5), and Justin Sowa (D-WI-1, who has since left the race); sheriff candidate Vince Bobot; state Senate candidate Donovan Riley; state assembly candidate Bill Elliott; and a few others.

If you can, go!

This line -- "maybe because Drinking Conservatively doesn't have quite the same ring to it" was used on the local NBC affiliate's coverage of our chapter, too.
