So what is a reasonable penalty for waking Mom up early on the weekend?
Am I asking too much to think he can watch cartoons while I sleep for another hour or so? Or at least get me some f'n toaster waffles as an apology for waking me up?

Five years and the kid still hasn't realized I'm an utter bitch in the mornings. I shelter him.

1. How old is he??
tell him he can get something he wants (small) if he lets you sleep in.

bribery is one of my best tools in the box.

2. He's five.
I should probably be glad he woke me up rather than spend the mornign getting into stuff he shouldn't while I slept.

7. We weren't allowed out of bedroom unless an adult was up
My parents were too afraid of the wave of destruction we'd cause with no supervision. We could read or play with toys in our own rooms as long as we were quiet.

Of course, there were a brazillion of us, not one little Lefty.

4. Set fly paper around on the floor so his chubby little feet get stuck...
It'll take him at least an hour to get out of the mess....

9. DEATH!!!
:P Oh, wait, that would be for the idiot neighbor's yard guy who comes over to mow their lawn at 8:30am every Saturday.

I have zero experience with small humans. I can't help you there.

10. For that reason I'm my mom's favorite.
I have three older sisters and my mom worked nights as a nurse. Whenever we get together, she still points out to my sisters that I was the only one who let her sleep and knew how to field what was and was not an emergency. Yes, she holds grudges. And not a morning person.

11. My Dad works nights
I got pressed into service as the answerer of phones and daytime business agent as soon as I was old enough to handle a phone call- 7 or so. Waking him up for anything shy of the house catching fire? I'd still be grounded. :scared:

Of course, you have final say. He could say something way downstream from what his behavior warrants.

He apparently doesn't understand that people become close in families by taking care of each other.

If he wakes you up, say 30 minutes early, tell him he has to go to bed 30 minutes early.
