A little boy's life touched many
A member of my children's school, my son's classmate last year, died last week. A memorial service was held today. The church was overflowing with friends, family and members of the community. It was a beautiful service that celebrated the life of a 7 year old boy. At the end of the service, there was a montage of videos taken of him catching his first fish, playing in the snow, etc. While bagpipes played "Amazing Grace," red (his favorite color) balloons were released by all who attended. I'm still processing his death. Why did it happen? None of it makes sense.

He was hit by a neighbor's car. Just like that, taken from his family. My heart goes out to the family and I thank them for opening up the memorial service to the community. It was a beautiful tribute to the love we all have for each other and how precious life is.

Thanks for letting me share this. I needed a place to process this and DU is an awesome community.

Jennifer

3. How sad.
I read your first post about this and it broke my heart. I've been extra careful backing out of my driveway since then as I think about him every time. I remember when a co-worker lost his 11 year old son. Things like that really hit you especially hard, and it never leaves you

It has touched me so intensly. I hug my children more, I listen to my son's chatter more, I cheered louder at his baseball game, when I brush my daughter's hair to feel how soft it is. This tragedy happened just a few blocks away from us and I had no idea until the next day. My son and I took flowers to the family's home and I cried for him.

It really has been a wake-up call.

8. This mother of a 7 year old is sobbing...
I am so sorry for you all...

This is my worst fear. That they will be snatched from me in a heartbeat.

You are in my thoughts. :(

9. Everyone who attended that service, and many who didn't
are appreciating their loved ones more at this very moment.

The nth time their little one says "Look at me Mom!"...or leaves his dirty, stinky little socks curled up in the middle of the floor...or tells the same tired joke, seems like a sweet moment through eyes enlightened by such a tragedy.

My heart goes out to you, your son, the family of the boy, and all those whose lives he touched.:hug::hug:
