What the hell...
My great grandma made a quilt, but i never noticed that the pattern looks like a swastika.

:wow:

1. My grandma made a quilt, too.
And I never noticed that the pattern looks like a swastika. That's because it doesn't.

4. 'swastika' not per se an evil image...
to certain other cultures, just incorporated by nazi's, hitler was big on the symbols of ancient societies as a way of tapping into the collective sub-conscious mind of his subjects

5. I know but..
That still doesn't put aside the fact that i didn't pay attention to the pattern, after years of looking at the damned thing. :nopity:

6. Manwoman is covered in them.
I'll bet your grandma has more in common with Manwoman than she does with hitler.

20. That's weird. He was featured in the Toronto Star in 1968.....
Edited on Thu Jun-08-06 04:12 AM by gbrooks
He made a hand carved guitar for George
Harrison and gave it to him after a concert.

The fret board was a carved snake.

I haven't heard a word about him since....... until this post.

Nice to know he's still kickin'

8. Swastikas were around a long time before Hitler.
Don't know when she made it, but the swastika shape has been in use of thousands of years. :hi:

15. Quilts? This is a perfect opportunity for me to hijack this thread...
...and mention that my wife may have two (2) quilts being shown at the AQS (American Quilter's Society) show during the last week of August in Nashville. I hope everyone attends to give my wife props!

23. How old is it?
The swastika motif was common in early american quilts. You just might have an important piece of american folk art.
