1. How about
the mercifully short lived trend, just after the emergence of punk, of power pop bands with monosyllabic names that sounded like detergent products? The Knack, the Fixx, etc.

But one thing I do miss about the punk era was individual musicians adopting bizarre names. Some of them were evocative (Joe Strummer, Darby Crash, Exene), some were witty (Terry Chimes, early drummer for the Clash, styled himself "Tory Crimes," and one NYC art punk called himself "Phil Harmonic"), some were over the top (Sid Vicious, or Pere Ubu's David Thomas taking the name "Crocus Behemoth"). But that was fun *and* functional.

2. Hows about the 70s "try to be repulsive" punk names?
The Sore Dicks, The Zits, The Slit Lickers, The Corn Chunks, The Vomit, The Pus Drinkers

3. I dunno, but there was a late 80's trend in the hardcore scene...
...to name yourself after brands of detergent. There was ALL, and Bold, and....uh, actually there was only two bands that did this.

Anyway, I found it terribly annoying.x(

6. Oh, yeah, and Alltempa Cheer...
Of course, they had umlauts over every vowel in their name. When they'd go onstage, it'd be covered in foam. I used to get agitated watching them play (okay, bad pun....)

Maybe it is you who sucks?

BTW, my vote is for bands that use mix letters and digits/numbers for no clear reason:

311, Sum 41, Finger 11, Blink 182....

12. 90s-00s emo bands...
also three words, like other 90s bands, but it's overly senstive and makes some sense (e.g. Crying In Diaries, Remembering Last Summer, Whining About Nothing, etc.)
