The Amway/Quixtar cult brainwashed my best friend! Help!

My best friend from college was drawn into the Amway/Quixtar pyramid scheme/cult a couple of months ago by the promise of a 6-figure income while devoting only 5-15 hrs a week "working" at your home computer. He recruited his wife, then his cousin, his brother-in-law, and now he's after me and my girlfriend. I have repeatedly told him to not talk to me about this subject because I am not interested at all in this bogus get-rich-quick scheme, but to no avail. He will not take no for an answer, bringing up the subject every time we hang out, go bowling, even when chatting online.

Has anyone else dealt with friends or family that were sucked into this, or something similar to this? I can't tell him to go f-off because he's my best friend; on the other hand his constant attempts at recruiting have made me stop answering my phone most times he calls me. I just can't understand how an intelligent, college-educated young man already making a decent income could be drawn into something so stupid.

He'll try to recruit your other friends. (but you've already experienced that)
And people he meets at parties you invite him to. (and that too)
And your family. (and that, too)
And perhaps your cat or dog. (okay, I made this one up)

I speak from experience. I had a friend who did almost the same exact thing: graduated from college
and immediately jumpted into Quixtar. He soon was harassing everyone I knew at every event (birthday parties, family friends)
until I finally laughed in his face and told him to screw off.

I agree, it is a cult. And I have no easy answers for you. My friend wasn't my best friend, so it was easier to shrug him off and
ignore him after a while. As far as I know, he's still only six months away from retirement. (He's been "6 months away" for
almost six years now.)

Just keep telling him "no" and he might get the hint eventually. Or, I'm sad to say, you might have to start to distance yourself from him.

My "friend" who's still in Quixtar drives a school bus during the day and works at a T.G.I.F. at night, all the while being "six months away" from retiring.

Is your friend a little socially awkward? I just can't imagine someone who prides themselves on their social skills to do something like this and then pester their dear ones. (I hope that didn't sound like a put-down of your friend.)
