Seattle Named Smartest City In America
Natch!!

Which community boasts the highest concentration of brainpower — and therefore can claim to be America's smartest big city?

The answer is Seattle, according to a new study by Bizjournals.com.

An analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data puts Seattle's No. 1 ranking in perspective:

1. There are smart people everywhere.
There were smart Nazis.

There are smart people in hell.

Hell, even Osama has degrees in engineering, economics and public freakin' administration!

Is that a list that Seattle really wants to be on?

Think about it.

2. That's a pretty interesting list
I'm surprised at Boston not making the top 10. But I think that surprise may be more about my provincial atitude...shame on me. ;)

18. When people graduate college in Boston...
They move to places like Cambridge, Newton, etc if they want to live near the city... or, they move a bit further out to towns like Acton to the Northwest, Westborough to the West or Duxbury to the South of the city.

19. I guess I assumed the study would take that into account
and look at "Greater Boston" which would include most of those areas.

Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 11:02 PM by scoey1953
Well it rains so much up there that people stay in. When they are in they get bored. When they get bored they look up odd stuff in text books, on the internet, and though the encyclopedia. When you do this trivial thing you get smarter...plus there are probably alot of people doing crossword puzzles..
I bet they sell more umbrella's than any other city too.

24. Here's what really bugs me about this....
This article isn't talking about IQ's..it's talking about people who hold college degrees. I can't tell you how many people I deal with on a daily basis who are all college graduates (some with advanced degrees) who don't know the difference between their, there and they're..or then and than...or two, too or to.
Can you tell this is a pet peeve of mine?
