Fifty pounds of pot discovered inside newly purchased furniture

BILLERICA, Mass. --

A couple finds a surprise inside a vanity for their new bathroom.

When they opened the cabinet, which was bought by a contractor at a Home Depot in Tewksbury,

the couple found inside 50 pounds of marijuana.

Investigators say the box does not look like it was tampered with.

Both local police and the Drug Enforcement Administration are investigating.

No comment as of yet has been made from Home Depot on the drug discovery.

UPDATE:
Local TV news just said that after the police opened the plastic wrapped pot they also found 2 lbs of cocaine!!

And then I would've promptly gone out and bought a freezer (as ours is tiny) with the proceeds the cocaine would've given me. One GIANT KICK ASS FREEZER. AND A NEW GARAGE TO PUT IT IN!

Now like the rest of you my first thought was why call the cops, when you could be stoned forever? Then I thought about it a little more and I probably would have called the cops too. This was $150,000 worth of merc that belonged to an organized criminal who probably worked at Home Depot, and who is to say that the criminal who stashed it wouldn't be able to look them up in a computer.

Consider this...

This vanity was bought by a contractor from a Home Depot. The vanity, as a piece of inventory was probably tracked by bar code from whatever goddamn chinese container it was shipped on. At some point, probably while in the possession of the contractor but maybe before, it was chosen to be the Vessel O Delite for the dope by Mr. or Messrs Triggerfinger McDealerguy. Now McDealerguy is not likely to forget where his $100K+ payday was secreted, and he's just waiting for it to stop moving long enough to liberate it. It is possible that McDealerguy was delayed in his quest to deliver the babe from the gestating vanity, and the no doubt smartly styled bit of bathroom storage was delivered to Mr. & Mrs. Civilian. Imagine if the Civilians said nothing? Imagine if days went by and no constabulary cruisers were seen by McDealerguy in front of the Civilian abode? What if the Civilians were seen bringing home a trunkload of Little Debbie products? Well, I doubt McDealerguy would waste much time, nor skimp on bullets, to obtain his Rightfully.

If that happened to me, my first thought would not be of papers, but rather "who the fuck is gonna come claim this shit". I would then call the cops. Then I would pull out a few baggies and carefully arrange it so that "the box does not look like it was tampered with".
