Seriously, though... and since you're probably the correct person to ask.

I always read the "Thou shall not use the name of thy God in vain" thing, not
as a prohibition on cussing per se. But, as a warning not to invoke the name
of God to accomplish your own dirty work. (Something we see too much these days,
sadly.)

What's your take on it?

Just in observation between offices in Oklahoma-more reserved no cussing, Mississippi-hardly any cussing but a lot of O.M.G.'s, and then Texas-anything goes-be-it-sexist-racist-polemicist-###*&#($&#&&@Q)_*, in the last office so much that my ears blistered and I had to buy my own set of music speakers to drown it out -- and that was the women cussing! IMHO, cussing is not a Christian or religious issue, but a matter of taste, intelligence, maturity, and immediate surroundings-appropriateness.

However, I'm no longer a Christian. My religious philosophy is more in line with deism. I was, however, raised a Baptist, and I'm quite certain that led to the level of profanity that flows from my mouth at times.

My close friend who worked there with me for three years swore as did my closest coworker as did about half the people there. I try not to swear in front of people who don't swear. One time I threw my superviser for a loop though when I said "I have a shit load of work to do today."
I will try not to swear at my new company.
