a theological/metaphysical question about the ignore function
Today I was put on ignore for the first time (to my knowledge, anyway).

I wouldn't be worried about it, accept for the fact that said poster was tombstoned sometime after delivering the news.

Is that like dying with a mortal sin on your hands and spending the rest of eternity in limbo or purgatory? Will my DU soul be forever in Ignoreland?

1. Fishwax.
Don't worry about it. She had many problems to worry about than you being on ignore. As for me, I don't mind being perpetually on her ignore list. Consider a badge of courage.

I'm not worried about it at all, really. And I actually feel bad for the poster and the many issues she's dealing with, including a lack of perspective on how offensive she was being.

I just found myself amused by the correlation between purgatory and permanent ignore :)

6. I've seen fewer online behaviors more childish...
...than telling someone they're being ignored/killfiled. It is a sign of a mind that is afraid not to have the last word.

Besides, they usually screw up and respond to you again as soon as they forget.

I tried to engage her 'rationally' out of curiousity as to what she would say, so of course she avoided my questions.

The last time she did it, she offered the same arguments, in the same format, with the same language, and the same details.
Like, going to Thailand for surgery, having complications, not speaking the language. Also talked about being transsexual, and about fearing being old and sick with no one speaking the language. I wasn't totally convinced despite all the similarities until the transsexual & going to thailand stuff came up. That was just too.... identical.

It's too much exactly the same to be someone else, IMO. I can't remember the other user name, I'm still trying to find the thread, but it's rough goin'.

I can barely remmeber my own birthday some years.

Meh. I just wish she had the nerve to answer me. I try and engage the racists or crazies and figure out the logic of their situation, or to prove to them that there is no logic and that its usually just blind hate and stereotyping. It's rare they actually respond to rational questioning though. I guess it's to be expected. Sad really.

Weird how they would come back and use the same word for word arguments. They will probably be back again, too. There was a member in an MSN group I used to manage that did the same thing, came back over and over again with different names. What would possess a person to do that?

... anyone on the ignore list of a tombstoned user is automatically exalted. Since the user was tombstoned, he must have been an idiot, and only an idiot would put your on ignore.
