This is THE official happy F.D. thread
Happy fathers day to everyone.

Show your offspring.

Or your father.

Or both:

4. mine and mine
It's a sad father's day for me this year. My dad had a stroke on June 1st and has lost much of his short term memory. He's only 64.

Here he is, healthy, three years ago. His decline has been steep and fast over the last year. Tomorrow he goes for a surgery consultation. Don't know what they are removing yet, and he isn't capable of telling me what the doctor said to him on the phone today. I sat with Dad on Saturday to make sure he didn't wander off, and it was very scary and sad. We spent the first half of the day running errands, visiting my brother Aaron's restaurant, picking up the newspaper, and taking a leisurely drive in the country so he could show me the farm where my brother Marc is working.

It was fun and relaxing. We returned to his apartment and he forgot I'd been with him all morning.

So we spent the rest of the day watching "Deadliest Catch" on The Discovery Channel, had dinner (Chicken Chow Mein sandwiches) and chatted about the old family restaurant.

At about seven thirty he forgot I'd been with him all day.

I go on vacation from work next weekend and I am taking the kids and Mrs. McLargehuge down to the old stomping grounds, and we will no doubt spend at least a day with Dad (provided he isn't in surgery, or recovering from surgery) and I know he'll love to see his grandkids and tell them funny stories and jokes.

But then he'll go home and forget their names.

:(

Ian

I'm sorry your son is a pothead.

At least his brain isn't fried.

Happy Father's Day, BigMcLargehuge.

:bittersweet:

edit to add, I'm saddened by the travails of your father.
