My GOP boyfriend just cut me out of his life for reading DU !!!
He didn't want me opening a web page that is named Democratic Underground, in the event the government is spying on him!! (It was on his laptop, afterall)
Well..who do we have to blame for the invasion of his privacy rights, Mr. GOP, pal of Bush?
I told him it is because of that paranoia towards his current government that he SHOULD be reading DU.

Dumb Ass!...I cannot tolerate the narrow mindset of the Bush lovers in this world.

Oh well I don't want to be a girlfriend of someone as stupid as he is.

Besides he's got a violent temper and I'm probably better off with no boyfriend..
Maybe there's some terrific guy out there that would love to share their time with a true patriot like me.

Too bad DU had to be the deciding factor in this releationship...but then I guess this simply opens the door to a more like-minded and more peaceful existence than tiptoeing around the ignorance of a pea brain like George.

Amen to the whole nasty one sided affair with him.
Enough is enough.

Thanks for the space to rant.

Blaze

And yes, I do thank DU for somehow taking me out of "harms way" with this man. However it all came about.

---------------------------------

I still feel sad because all this tells me, is that George must have missed all the great stuff that was sitting there before him all this time.

-----------------------
Well I'm in Dallas, and I'm open to new and exciting exchanges...O.K.?

Send me an email...Love to hear from wiser and more reasonable people than what I have been living with.

I doubt I can tell you anything you don't already know here;
just thought I'd toss in my 2¢ worth of general support.

REAL men know that smart, strong liberal women are HOT, HOT, HOT...
We do whatever it takes to find them,
and when we do, we do MORE than it takes to KEEP them in our lives.

I'm sure a lot of _MEN_ would be real happy for a chance to know you.
And any one of them will be an improvement
over the developmentally-stunted CHILD you described in your OP.

Stay strong, Blaze, it will be hard for a while. But someone with a violent temper is just trouble waiting to happen. Try hanging out with some local peace or Democratic groups to get to know more people of your own persuasion.

Good luck

42. Hubby and I sometimes have these issues as well.
We've been together 25 years - married for 13 of them. HS sweethearts. I went into Soc/Anth, he became a Stanford MBA (ie: Deacon in the Church of Capitalism).

He has extreme difficulties in seeing the pitfalls of global capitalism because he cannot link 'corporation' to 'royalty'. I see the parallels clearly, he cannot.

He now distusts b*sh - I had to force that on him just to live under the same roof.

It is very hard to live w/someone who has a difficult time accepting reality and gets defensive whenever facts disturb their deeply held beliefs.

I keep working on him..... you should not invest such time and be happy that you have moved on.

My investment in George is minor, just a blip on the screen as I will always try to see it.

His temper is a deciding factor. I'd like to know that not one hit has come my way, and my bones are still intact for simply believing as I sincerely do about my patriotic leaning towards my America.

Your story sounds just like me and George...He believes everything FOX News tells him..
He believes the bombing of Iraq is necessary to secure all the MiddleEast Oil for ourselves...no matter how many"Arabs" we have to kill off..as he stated today..
There's no reasoning with someone like that...ever.

No relationship is worth this constant torture..
Guess 'torture' and 'GOP' are two necessary components to such personalities.

57. Wow! Do you think he understood the irony of being...
afraid of the government for which he voted????

Aside from that, having a violent temper disqualifies him as a good partner. I don't know if you had an interest in marrying or having children with him, but, if you did, life gets more stressful, not less when you head down that road. The last thing you need is to be stuck with a spouse who is paranoid and controlling.

I'm happy for you that you dumped that turkey! Go out and find a great guy who will appreciate your patriotism and liberalism!

66. Shouldn't you be saying...
You cut him out of your life? I can't imagine telling my wife (or my ex-wife for that matter) what websites they could read or not read.

69. Good for you!
correcting a mistake while it is small. Neo-cons, freepers, Bush morans, GOP chickenhawks and other stupid people are best kept at arm's length.

71. Better to be alone for all the right reasons than together for....
...all the wrong ones.

Ten years ago I probably could have dated a republican but then again 10 years ago EVEN with Clinton in the White House, this country was NOT as divided as it is today. The only person I find less appealing than a republican is someone who can't bother to vote at all.

Everything happens for a reason. No offense, but he sounds kind of like an ass.

Keep your chin up. More DU fish in the sea and all that!

76. Please move on and try to find a nice liberal/socialist partner
Republican men aren't usually nice to their partners. You need to have someone who at least supports your right to choose.

You're better off without your ex.

79. So here it is..the morning after the breakup..My head is clearer,
my heart isn't bruised so badly it will never recover, and my perspective on the whole thing is one of feeling extremely lucky to have DU pals, and thankful for the direction of fate, higher powers, or angels around me to free me from such a dangerous and unloving relationship. Whateveer happened to bring this about, I believe that "good" has been on my side, in this case.

Couldn't have slept as well as I did without the great support from my DU pals.
May I return the favor someday to each of you very cool people!

Thanks
Blaze

82. I don't care what his political affilliation is.
Any man who would tell you what you can and cannot read is a controlling SOB. It's best to get rid of him now instead of allowing him further control of your life.

88. as long as you're laughing
In the Metroplex (Texas Dallas/Fort Worth area), so playing the numbers on this one, you'd probably have a heck of a long drive here.

But as long as you're laughing and feeling a bit better, that's the important thing! :)

Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 01:23 PM by Radical Activist
He must have been buff. Just stay single until you find a good liberal man. You'll be happier that way I bet. That's what I do in regard to women. I have a hard time finding women to date since I'm in a conservative area...but that's ok.

91. Life's too short to be tangled up with a GOP dumbass.....
Friends don't let friends date Republicans.....

Mommas, don't let your babies grow up to be Republicans.....

You get the idea. There's gotta be a guy out there (or in here) who'll dig you AND your politics!
