One mojito at 8pm last night and I feel hungover now.
It was a strong mojito, but still.

:wtf:

Can I just not drink at all anymore?

5. Maybe it's too much sugar
Sugar and booze do not always blend well. Maybe some Splenda instead?

Moooooo-ji-tooooooo.

14. Ewww....splenda is gross.
I drink diet soda like crazy, but I only want real sugar in my drinks. My liver is a well-tuned machine though. I don't get hangovers unless some spectacular event has occured.

I, meanwhile, have been sober for a week and a half now! (not on the wagon, just on a diet ;))

10. Congratualations on your sobriety!
When you're no longer sober and have a few $ to spend on dinner, Cubanitas is excellent, but loud. (Not horribly expensive, either.)

maybe it was something you ate. One drink shouldn't wreck you unless there's something wrong with your liver.

13. Well, my tolerance does stink...I was feeling tipsy after that mojito
It's always been that way -- I'm small and alcohol hits me hard, plus I have balance issues (vertigo) already. There were probably a few shots of rum in the drink, so it's not entirely unexpected.

Then again, there was a lot of food last night too -- Cuban guacamole (which was strikingly similar to every other guacamole, but OK), plantains, cuban sandwich, a taste of my SO's carne con papas. Maybe it's just the combo of too many calories + tipsiness.

I am feeling a bit better.

8. Perhaps you stopped drinking too quickly.
That'll give you a headache every time.

Oh and, you should always have at least two drinks.

You stopped before you had enough and probably too quickly as well.

So now your head hurts. So have another.

It's Friday night here. Are CMW and I too late to learn how to make whatever it is?

17. it's a tasty summer drink
I love them but never made one at home, it seems like every time I crave a mojito I never have any limes, mint or club soda on hand...but they would be a great drink if you are entertaining guests

Ingredients:

* 2-3 oz Light rum
* Juice of 1 Lime (1 oz)
* 2 tsp Sugar
* 2-4 Mint sprigs
* Soda water

Mixing instructions:

Lightly muddle the mint and sugar with a splash of soda water in a mixing glass until the sugar dissolve and you smell the mint. Squeeze the lime into the glass, add rum and shake with ice. Strain over cracked ice in a highball glass. Top with soda water, garnish with mint sprig and serve.

I haven't had a frozen margarita in seven years. I'm gonna have to research how to make them from scratch, since I can't find margarita mix here.

Thanks for the reminder, Rev. *Drool*

23. Margarita mix? NOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Okay, let me preface by saying I prefer them on the rocks. But XNASA makes a damn fine frozen.

Here's what you need:
Tequila (blanco, preferably, unless you want your margarita to look all jaundiced)
Triple Sec (or other orange liqueur -- Grand Marnier is fine, if you like)
Lime juice (I like Rose's sweetened -- but you can squeeze your own and sugar to taste)

Mix them. You need more tequila than the others, but I've never been ace at measuring. I just mix till it tastes right. Add a bunch of ice.

At this point, for frozen, put the whole mess in a blender till smooth.

I think it's a necessity. The whole paddling to the side of the pool to get my drink just doesn't cut it.

Buy Havana Club rum - it's the the only way to make Mojitos as they should be. The whole "feel like Ernest Hemingway" appeal :D

31. Hey, Kellanved!
Is it better than Bacardi? My time in Puerto Rico made me a big Barcardi fan, though the company probably is owned by a big American or Asian liquor conglomerate by now. ;) I got my whole "feel like Hemingway" experience in Key West just before I came to Europe.

32. Well
I'll naturally claim that I like it better than Bacardi's - which is a conglomerate in it's own right.

But in a cocktail it's easier to taste the quality of the mint than that of the rum.
It's more that the Mojito has become a political statement (at least over here): not using Cuban rum for it is considered a sacrilege.
