Any telephone repair types out there? Question?
I just had my landline service restored. I tested the line before they hooked me up, I was able to dial out (but was informed I was only able to dial 911 by an automated message). So the line was able to connect outbound at that time.
After they hooked me up I had no dialtone at all. The repair guy came out and said I had a dialtone. I have a dialtone now but I can only recieve calls, I can not dial out.
Any ideas?

Is it an older used or mistreated phone? My first thought.

But it sounds like your new telephone number was once programmed for restricted use.

For example; my wife's phone number is programmed to deny long distance calling (out going).

Aside. Every time I see 'Wcross' I remember driving through Waycross, Georgia in my new blue 1962 VW Beetle on my way to Panama City,Fla.

2. Not an older phone.....
It is the number I used to have before I turned off my phone service (thinking I could do with a cell phone only).
Now the dial tone is gone again! I HATE bellsouth!
