"Six Feet Under" and "Oz"
Now that I'm living in Japan, my English-language television viewing is somewhat limited to the reruns of American shows on satellite. The only thing real-time is CNN.

When I was in the states, I never got HBO, so I never saw "Six Feet Under" and "Oz", but I want to say thanks to HBO and everybody who produced these EXCELLENT programs. Every week I feel like I get something, some insight into the human condition that I miss in this culture of "Honne" and "tatemae" (the outer facade, and real inner feelings). These shows are so consistently good, and never fail to make me think and feel and relate.

An honorable mention to "Star Trek: Enterprise" another show I never got around to seeing in the states. Quite nice. All helping a little to keep homesickness at bay.

Funny, but George Bush's mere existence also helps with the homesickness. Funny, huh?

1. I LOVE Oz!
In fact, I'm working my way through the DVDs now. I'm on Season 4...and it is a totally fabulous show.

2. I don't know what season I'm on.
Tonight was the episode where Keller confesses to killing Schillinger's son to protect Beecher. It was pretty touching. There were a lot more stabbings than usual in this one!

I'm actually surprised they show it here in Japan. Japan is fairly accepting of gays - provided they are in drag. They are a lot less comfortable with gay men who look and act like men.

But whatever. It's a great show.

3. I believe that's
Season 3. :)

I'm pretty annoyed because there are 6 seasons, but the 6th isn't out on DVD yet, though the show was over in 2003, I believe. x(
