Now that I'm living in Japan, my English-language television viewing is somewhat limited to the reruns of American shows on satellite. The only thing real-time is CNN.
When I was in the states, I never got HBO, so I never saw "Six Feet Under" and "Oz", but I want to say thanks to HBO and everybody who produced these EXCELLENT programs. Every week I feel like I get something, some insight into the human condition that I miss in this culture of "Honne" and "tatemae" (the outer facade, and real inner feelings). These shows are so consistently good, and never fail to make me think and feel and relate.
An honorable mention to "Star Trek: Enterprise" another show I never got around to seeing in the states. Quite nice. All helping a little to keep homesickness at bay.
Funny, but George Bush's mere existence also helps with the homesickness. Funny, huh?
